Abstract:

Background and Aim: Bacterial disinfection is considered as the primary etiology of pulpal and periapical lesions and as the result, adequate elimination of such infections is one of the purposes of root canal treatment; But since this purpose is impossible to achieve, reducing the bacterial load seems to be as a rational goal. Diode lasers have made their way into endodontics for better disinfection and penetration into the root canal dentine. This study reports 3 cases of Diode laser assisted endodontic treatments in periapical lesions repair. Case Report: 3 patients referred to an endodontist for root canal treatment and 2 patients were treated with diode laser (wavelength of 940 nm and power output of 1W) and one patient was treated with diode laser (wavelength of 810 nm and power output of 1 W). The follow-up outcomes for all three patients showed the treatment success. Conclusion: Diode laser can be used in root canal treatment of teeth with periapical lesions.

Endodontic treatment of periapical chronic periodontitis A Laser Assisted Technique

Nowadays, the bactericidal effect of laser irradiation is well known in endodontic therapy. Many studies showed that, in combination with an appropriate shaping and cleaning of root canal system, laser irradiation, inside the root canal, could increase the percentage of bactericidal effect in endodontic treatment. Three clinical cases of teeth with periapical chronic periodontitis are presented...

histopathological study of healing in periapical lesions following endodontic treatments

this study was perfomed on twenty five teeth which showed radiographic lesions( 6mm over 25 mm). the teeth were arranged in seven different groups and root canal therapy ( by warm gutta-percha technique) as surgical intervention were performed at various time intervals. in this investigation, histologic studies of the periapical tissues begin shortly after elimination of the root canal system w...

Periapical cyst repair after nonsurgical endodontic therapy--case report.

This article presents the procedures that must be considered for periapical cyst repair after nonsurgical endodontic treatment. The case of a periapical cyst associated to the left maxillary lateral incisor is reported. Nonsurgical root canal therapy was performed and lesion healing was confirmed radiographically after 24 months. Differential diagnosis, endodontic infection control, apical fora...

diode laser in minor oral surgery: a case series of laser removal of different benign exophytic lesions

introduction: the role of laser in conservative management of oral disease is well established. laser procedures are common in the fields of oral surgery, implant dentistry, endodontic, and periodontic therapy. case: this case series describes the use of diode laser for the excision of oral exophytic lesions. all the patients attended the oral medicine department of shahid beheshti university o...

Prevalence of Treponema spp. in endodontic retreatment-resistant periapical lesions.

This study investigated the presence of the Treponema species in longstanding endodontic retreatment-resistant lesions of teeth with apical periodontitis, the association of this species with clinical/radiographic features, and the association among the different target species. Microbial samples of apical lesions were collected from twenty-five adult patients referred to endodontic surgery aft...

Microbiota of periapical lesions refractory to endodontic therapy.

The periapical microbiota of 36 teeth with refractory apical periodontitis was investigated. None of the teeth had responded to conventional endodontic or long-term (> 6 months), calcium-hydroxide treatment. Eight patients had received antibiotics systemically. After anaerobic culture, a total of 148 microbial strains were detected among 67 microbial species. One of the 36 lesions was culture-n...
