Abstract:

Cancer is one of the principal causes of mortality in the modern world. There are different treatment methods available for cancer such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and hormone therapy. About 40% of all cancer patients receive radiotherapy during their illness for treatment or for local control or symptomatic palliation. In clinical radiation oncology, the final aim is to attain uncomplicated cancer treatment. The aim of treatment is to deliver a maximum radiation effect to a tumor or other lesions with minimal impact on the normal tissue. Significant technological advances like intensity-modulated radiotherapy have increased the possibility to shape the dose distribution to the target volume more favorably and thus spare a larger portion of the healthy tissues. In this review, the principles and applications of different cancer treatment methods are compared.

A Review on Synthesis of Nano-TiO2 via Different Methods

Titanium dioxide is one kind of important materials, which has been extensively investigated because of its unique electronic and optical properties. A large number of efforts have been made to synthesize TiO2 materials with different methods. In this review paper, we summarize the synthesis pathways, morphology, as well as crystallization of the nanostructured TiO2. In ad...

Stereotactic Radiosurgery/Radiotherapy: A Historical Review

"Stereotactic" is an exact radiotherapy treatment modality which implements invasive and non-invasive facilities for improving precise dose delivery. Stereotactic refers to three-dimensional localization of a specific point in space by a unique set of coordinates that relate to a fixed external reference frame. An accurate delivery of radiation is attainable using these techniques with high pre...

Using Different Methods of Nanofabrication as a New Way to Activate Supplementary Cementitious Materials; a Review

Reducing the consumption of cement with simultaneous utilizing waste materials as cement replacement is preferred for reasons of environmental protection. Blended cements consist of different supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), such as fly ash, silica fume, Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS), natural pozzolans, etc. These materials should be chemically activated to show effec...

A Review on Different Image Dehazing Methods

This paper presents a review on the different haze removal techniques. Haze brings trouble to many computer vision/graphics applications as it diminishes the visibility of the scene. Haze is formed due to the two fundamental phenomena that are attenuation and the air light. Attenuation reduces the contrast and air light increases the whiteness in the scene. Haze removal techniques recover the c...

Different Methods of Long-Term Electric Load Demand Forecasting a Comprehensive Review

Long-term demand forecasting presents the first step in planning and developing future generation, transmission and distribution facilities. One of the primary tasks of an electric utility accurately predicts load demand requirements at all times, especially for long-term. Based on the outcome of such forecasts, utilities coordinate their resources to meet the forecasted demand using a least-co...
