Abstract:

Previous results indicated that performance of chicks fed a high level (10%) of poultry by-product meal(PBM) was lower than performance of chicks fed a corn-soybean meal (SBM) diet. The latter difference was hypothesized to be due to variation in digestible amino acid (AA) levels among the diets. This study evaluated diets containing PBM formulated on equivalent total AA basis vs. an equivalent digestible AA basis compared to a corn-SBM diet. In this study, 7 days old male chicks were fed from 8 to 21 and 21 to 42 days of age with a corn-SBM diet or diets containing 5 or 10% PBM formulated to be equal in total or digestible AA to the corn-SBM diet. From 8 to 21 days post hatch, chicks fed 10% PBM diet formulated on a total AA basis had significantly lower (P

Effect of Poultry by Product Meal on Performance Parameters,Serum Uric Acid Concentration and Carcass Characteristics

This experiment was conducted to determine the chemical composition and gross energy of poultry by product meal (PBPM) and the effects of different levels of inclusion of poultry by product meal on broiler chicken performance, serum uric acid and carcass characteristics. Three samples of PBPM produced in Ardabil province located in northwest of Iran, were provided during one month sampling peri...

Performance of Broiler Chickens Fed Low Protein, Limiting Amino Acid Supplemented Diets Formulated Either on Total or Standardized Ileal Digestible Amino Acid Basis

The aim of present experiment was to investigate the effect of protein reduction in commercial broiler chicken rations with incorporation of de-oiled rice bran (DORB) and supplementation of limiting amino acids (valine, isoleucine, and/or tryptophan) with ration formulation either on total amino acid (TAA) or standardized ileal digestible amino acids (SIDAA). The experimental design consisted o...

Digestible indispensable amino acid score and digestible amino acids in eight cereal grains.

To determine values for the digestible indispensable amino acid score (DIAAS), it is recommended that ileal amino acid (AA) digestibility values obtained in growing pigs are used to characterise protein quality in different foods. Therefore, an experiment was conducted to determine the standardised ileal digestibility (SID) of AA in eight cereal grains (yellow dent maize, Nutridense maize, dehu...

Comparison of the nutritive value for laying hens of diets containing azolla (Azolla pinnata) based on formulation using digestible protein and digestible amino acid versus total protein and total amino acid

Azolla (Azolla pinnata) was assessed for nutrient content and feeding value in laying hen diets. Proximate analysis, together with the estimates of digestible protein, ADF, NDF and metabolizable energy indicated that it was a fair source of plant protein (285.4 g kgÿ1) with a digestible protein value of 219.8 g kgÿ1 and a metabolizable energy value of 7.59 MJ kgÿ1 (906 g kgÿ1 DM). The feeding v...
