Abstract:

This study aimed to construct the hydrate three-phase equilibrium curves for two typical Iranian gas reservoir samples using a high-pressure visual cell. To do so, complete analysis of the reservoir fluids was obtained by different techniques of composition analysis i.e. gas chromatography (GC) and detailed hydrocarbon analysis (DHA). Using high-pressure visual cell the hydrate phase equilibrium curve was obtained by measuring the hydrate formation temperature in each pressure level. By means of commercial hydrate software, hydrate formation temperature was predicted in each specified pressure level. Comparing the results showed that the experimental data are in good agreement with the simulator results. Using the experiments results, hydrate phase equilibrium curves were constructed in order to depict the safe and unsafe regions of the hydrate formation zones for two typical Iranian gas reservoir samples.

Two Phase Flow Pressure Drop Calculation Using Homogeneous Equilibrium Model

Although two-phase flow is frequently encountered in various location of the process plants, there is no a general accepted and verified two-phase flow model that may be used to size lines for such conditions. An obvious example is condensate water return lines. The API method that used in this study is based on the homogeneous equilibrium flow assumption, that is, equal velocity and equal temp...

High Pressure Phase Equilibrium of (Solvent + Salt + CO2) Systems by the Extended Peng-Robinson Equation of State

An extended Peng-Robinson equation of state (EPR-EOS) is used to model the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) in systems containing (water + NaCl + CO2), (water + methanol + NaCl + CO2), (water + Na2SO4 + CO2) and (water + NH4Cl + CO2). The binary and ternary interaction parameters between salt and solvent are adjusted...

Phase Equilibrium of Binary System Carbon Dioxide - Methanol at High Pressure Using Artificial Neural Network

Interest in supercritical fluids extraction (SFE) is increasing throughout many scientific and industrial fields. The common solvent for use in SFE is carbon dioxide. However, pure carbon dioxide frequently fails to efficiently extract the essential oil from a sample matrix, and modifier fluids such as methanol should be used to enhance extraction yield. A more efficient use of SFE requires qua...

Phase changes of CO2 hydrate under high pressure and low temperature.

High pressure and low temperature experiments with CO(2) hydrate were performed using diamond anvil cells and a helium-refrigeration cryostat in the pressure and temperature range of 0.2-3.0 GPa and 280-80 K, respectively. In situ x-ray diffractometry revealed that the phase boundary between CO(2) hydrate and water+CO(2) extended below the 280 K reported previously, toward a higher pressure and...

Accurate determination of equilibrium state between two pressure balances using a pressure transducer

To determine an equilibrium state between two pressure balances accurately, the measurement method using a precise pressure transducer and two air-operated constant volume valves (CVV) is proposed in this paper. The advantages of the proposed method are as follows: (1) by the usage of two air-operated CVV, the pressure generated by the pressure balance can be connected and disconnected quickly ...
