Determination of 18 ?-Glycyrrhetinic Acid in Glycyrrhiza glabra L. Extract by HPLC
Authors
Abstract:
A high performance liquid chromatography method was studied for determination of 18 ?-glycyrrhetinic acid in Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (licorice) extract. The operating condition were C-18 reversed phase column (VP-ODS, (250×4.6 mm, 5 mm)) at room temperature, acetonitril/phosphoric acid (3/1) as mobile phase, at flow rate of 0.6ml/min (0-8min), 0.4ml/min (8-20min) and UV detection at 230 nm. The recoveries were %99.60-%102.81 with relative standard deviation between %0.01-%1.58. The relative standard deviation of the repeatability test was %2.96. The method is simple, rapid, safe, accurate, economical and useful for standardization of the licorice products.

full textIn Silico and In Vivo Anti-Malarial Studies of 18β Glycyrrhetinic Acid from Glycyrrhiza glabra
Malaria is one of the most prevailing fatal diseases causing between 1.2 and 2.7 million deaths all over the world each year. Further, development of resistance against the frontline anti-malarial drugs has created an alarming situation, which requires intensive drug discovery to develop new, more effective, affordable and accessible anti-malarial agents possessing novel modes of action. Over t...
full textLeaves Antimicrobial Activity of Glycyrrhiza glabra L.
Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) is an important medicinal plant. In this study, the antimicrobial activities of ethanolic and aqueous extracts from licorice leaves were studied compared to root extracts activities. Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans were used as test organisms...
full textHplc-ms Study of Phytoestrogens from Glycyrrhiza Glabra
In this paper we have analyzed the phytoestrogen content of Glycyrrhiza glabra roots harvested from four different locations in Syria. The presence of eight phytoestrogen compounds was simultaneously assessed through a LC-MS method, before and after hydrolysis. All tested extracts contain daidzein, daidzin, genistein, formononetin, ononin and coumestrol. Rezumat În această lucrare am analizat c...
full textAntiulcer properties of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. extract on experimental models of gastric ulcer in mice
Glycyrrhiza glabra L. is used in folk medicine for treatment of stomach disorders including peptic ulcers. The hydroalcoholic extract of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (HEGG) was evaluated for antiulcerogenic activity and acute toxicity profile in mice. Various doses of HEGG (50-200 mg/kg) were administered orally to animals of different groups. Omeprazole and cimetidine at doses of 30 and 100 mg/kg wer...
