Design of Dual-Purpose Treadmill and Gait Simulator Device for Veterans and Disabled People

Abstract:
Background and Aim: The purpose of this study was to design of dual-purpose treadmill and gait simulator device for veterans and disabled people. This device can be used by both healthy and stroke patients, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease, MS and people who have lost their ability to walk for a temporary period. Methods: The device design is such that the protective waistcoat has sensors to determine the amount of stress applied to the parts where the supporting rope is attached to the waistcoat. The amount of pressure displayed along with other information is displayed on the screen embedded in the device so that the therapist is aware of the information while practicing. Results: The treadmill is also designed in two ways, which can be adjusted automatically to allow the individual to move at their desired speed, as well as to be able to manually move the treadmill by applying pressure through the legs. Conclusion: This treadmill causes of strengthens the muscles of people with disabilities who have lost their ability to walk for a while and, in addition, their muscles have weakened. Also, the protective waistcoat has a pressure sensor that can be adjusted based on body weight.
