Design of a novel congestion-aware communication mechanism for wireless NoC architecture in multicore systems

Authors

Abstract:

Hybrid Wireless Network-on-Chip (WNoC) architecture is emerged as a scalable communication structure to mitigate the deficits of traditional NOC architecture for the future Multi-core systems. The hybrid WNoC architecture provides energy efficient, high data rate and flexible communications for NoC architectures. In these architectures, each wireless router is shared by a set of processing cores. Sharing links between cores increases congestion vulnerability which consequently degrades WNoC performance. In this paper, we propose a novel congestion-aware mesh-based WNoC architecture to address these issues. We consider optimization of the system cost and performance, simultaneously. Through comprehensive simulations, the performance of the proposed architecture has been evaluated and compared with notable WNoC architectures. The experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed design under both synthetic and realistic traffic patterns in terms of network throughput, latency, and energy consumption.

Communication-Aware Face Detection Using Noc Architecture

Face detection is an essential first step towards many advanced computer vision, biometrics recognition and multimedia applications, such as face tracking, face recognition, and video surveillance. In this paper, we proposed an FPGA hardware design with NoC (Network-on-Chip) architecture based on an AdaBoost face detection algorithm. The AdaBoost-based method is the state-of-the-art face detect...

MPSoC Architecture-Aware Automatic NoC Topology Design

This paper presents a methodology for the automatic definition of NoC topology according to application and architecture requirements. The proposed solution, which has been implemented as a new step of our NoC design flow, results from the analysis of real concerns and demands from designers. The main contribution lies in the fact that we customize the method according to multiprocessor archite...

Distance-Aware Beamforming for Multiuser Secure Communication Systems

Typical cryptography schemes are not well suited for low complexity types of equipment, e.g., Internet of things (IoT) devices, as they may need high power or impose high computational complexity on the device. Physical (PHY) layer security techniques such as beamforming (in multiple antennas systems)  are possible alternatives to provide security for such applications. In this paper, we consid...
