Delineation of hydrothermal alteration Zones for porphyry systems utilizing ASTER data in Jebal barez area, SE Iran
Authors
Abstract:
Abstract: The Urumieh-Dokhtar Magmatic Belt (UDMB) is the host of many Iranian Cu porphyry deposits. Southern part of this belt, in the range of geological Jebal barez, has been less investigated because of the mountainous and rough topography and also some security confrontation. Porphyry deposits are associated with hydrothermal alteration zones can be mapped using remote sensing data such as Advanced Space borne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) which flying on the Terra satellite to record radiation in 14 spectral bands. The aim of this study is to identify and detect the alteration Zones which associated with porphyry systems utilizing ASTER data in Jebal barez area, SE Iran. In this reason, seven scenes of ASTER level-1B data which cover the Jebal barez area were pre-processing and then process by band ratio, false color composite and Spectral Angele Mapper (SAM) methods. Result indicates the presence of extensive phyllic and argillic alteration zones. The argillic alteration is surrounded by border zones of propylitic alteration. Also a massive granitoid intrusion in NW of the studied area is detected by SAM method and color composite of 4,6 ,8 band of aster as a completely altered area ( SF area) which strongly recommend for more detailed exploration and field inspection.

Remote sensing plays an important role in mineral exploration. One of its proven applications is extracting host-rock lithology and alteration zones that are related to porphyry copper deposits. An Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) was used to map the Baogutu porphyry deposit alteration area. A circular alteration mineral zoning pattern was clearly observed ...
full textDelineation of alteration zones based on kriging, artificial neural networks, and concentration–volume fractal modelings in hypogene zone of Miduk porphyry copper deposit, SE Iran
This paper presents a quantitative modeling for delineating alteration zones in the hypogene zone of the Miduk porphyry copper deposit (SE Iran) based on the core drilling data. The main goal of this work was to apply the Ordinary Kriging (OK), Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), and Concentration-Volume (C-V) fractal modelings on Cu grades to separate different alteration zones. Anisotropy was ...

Remote sensing image analysis can be carried out at the per-pixel (hard) and sub-pixel (soft) scales. The former refers to the purity of image pixels, while the latter refers to the mixed spectra resulting from all objects composing of the image pixels. The spectral unmixing methods have been developed to decompose mixed spectra. Data-driven unmixing algorithms utilize the reference data called...
