Damage Detection in Post-tensioned Slab Using 2D Wavelet Transforms
Authors
Abstract:
Earthquake force, loading more than structural capacity, cracking, material fatigue and the other unpredicted events were undeniable in the structure life cycle in order that environmental conditions of the structure would be changed and treats health. Damage of structures such as crack, corrosion of the post tension cables from inappropriate grouting of the post tension structures and etc. can lead to the collapse of the structure. So, damage detection precedes the damage is important. In this study damage detection in the post-tensioned slab through 2D wavelet transform investigated. For this purpose, the structure has been modeled with finite element method. Damaged cables have been modeled by decreasing the post tension force. The vertical displacement has been derived through static analysis of intact and damaged structure. Damage location will be detected with wavelet transform on the difference of the vertical displacements. To demonstrate the ability of 2D wavelet transform single and multiple scenarios of the post tension cables, are tested. The influence of noise in the vertical displacement data for these scenarios is also considered. Using 2D wavelet transform and damage index W, an empirical equation has been proposed to calculate damage severity of the post-tensioned slab cables.

Damage detection in a sandwich composite beam using wavelet transforms
There is a growing interest in developing non-destructive damage detection methods for damage assessment of composite structures, especially in the aerospace and marine industries. Although damage detection of composite laminates has been widely investigated, little work has been carried out on sandwich composite configurations. A technique using the Lipschitz exponent, which is estimated by wa...

Human Gait as the recognition object is the famous biometrics system recently. Many researchers had focused this issue to consider for a new recognition system. One of the important advantage in this recognition compare to other is it does not require observed subject’s attention and assistance. There are many human gait datasets created within the last 10 years. Some databases that widely used...
full textFault detection in induction motors using Hilbert and Wavelet transforms
In this work, a new on-line method for detecting incipient failures in electrical motors is proposed. The method is based on monitoring certain statistical parameters estimated from the analysis of the steady state stator current (for broken bars, saturation, eccentricities, and bearing failures) or the axial flux signal (for coil short-circuits in the stator windings). The approach is based on ...
full textTexture Classification of Diffused Liver Diseases Using Wavelet Transforms
Introduction: A major problem facing the patients with chronic liver diseases is the diagnostic procedure. The conventional diagnostic method depends mainly on needle biopsy which is an invasive method. There are some approaches to develop a reliable noninvasive method of evaluating histological changes in sonograms. The main characteristic used to distinguish between the normal...
full textConstruction Condition and Damage Monitoring of Post-Tensioned PSC Girders Using Embedded Sensors
The potential for monitoring the construction of post-tensioned concrete beams and detecting damage to the beams under loading conditions was investigated through an experimental program. First, embedded sensors were investigated that could measure pre-stress from the fabrication process to a failure condition. Four types of sensors were installed on a steel frame, and the applicability and the...
full textCopy-Move Forgery Detection using Orthogonal Wavelet Transforms
With the help of various image editing tools available, it has become easier to alter an image in such a way that it does not leave behind any clues. Copy –Move forgery is a type of image forgery in which a part of digital image is copied and pasted to another part of same image. Since the copied and pasted image comes from the same image, it becomes difficult to detect the forgery. Generally t...
