Zero-crossing analysis technique in speech and speaker recognition

The resul ts of previous studies showed a possibili ty of application of zero-crossing rates as parameters for speech and speaker recognition The paper presents a method for obtaining these parameters and the resul ts of experiments carried out in order to estimate the absolute and relative discriminating power of zero-crossing parameters in speech and speaker recogni tion. As a basic test mate...

Phenotyping Cowpeas for Adaptation to Drought

Methods for phenotyping cowpeas for adaptation to drought are reviewed. Key factors involve achieving optimal time of flowering and cycle length, and appropriate morphology for different types of cultivars as they relate to their utilization for dry grain, hay, and fresh pea production. Strong resistance to vegetative-stage drought is available and should be incorporated. The extreme ability of...

A new biclustering technique based on crossing minimization

Clustering only the records in a database (or data matrix) gives a global view of the data. For detailed or a local view, biclustering is required i.e. clustering the records and the attributes simultaneously. In this paper, a new graph theoretic, crossing minimization based biclustering technique is proposed. The performance of the proposed technique is compared with a recently reported classi...

Percutaneous crossing screws, a novel technique for transverse patella fractures

Results: The mean follow-up period was 22 ± 4.31 months. All the fracture united in a mean time of 7.6 ± 1.28 weeks. The average knee flexion was 134.10 ± 7.61 and 0.5° for extension. The mean Lysholm knee score was 94.5 ± 5.7. No major complications, cosmetic, or hardware problem. Conclusions: The use of crossing screws simplifies fracture fixation, is mini-invasive, and provides stability eno...

Identifying at Highway-Rail Grade Crossing Hotspots in Canada

This research presents a risk-based Hotspots identification model at highway-rail grade crossings in Canada. Two sets of models were developed to predict collision frequency and consequence at individual crossings. A two–dimensional graphic approach was adopted to combine these two models together to predict the risk at each crossing. Hotspots based on collision history tended to be widespread ...
