Abstract:

A new design of coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed antenna with circular polarization (CP) and excellent impedance matching is presented. In this design a pair of circular-shaped slits is applied to opposite corners of the slot for enhancing the impedance matching and realizes bandwidth of 134.43% across 2.98-15.20 GHz for VSWR≤2. Furthermore this structure exhibits axial ration bandwidth (ARBW) of 36.22% across 4.43-6.39 GHz by embedding two inverted-L shaped ground arms in the slot. The total dimension of the proposed antenna is 25×25×0.8 mm3. This new design has advantages of, supporting the ultra-wideband (UWB) systems and covering the WLAN spectrums with 3dB CP radiation and VSWR≤2 simultaneously. The numerical and experimental results of the antenna explain the superiority of the proposed antenna performance with comparison to recent similar works.

Compact CPW-fed Circular Patch Antenna for UWB Applications

In this paper, a novel CPW-fed antenna is presented for UWB applications. The antenna mainly comprises of a simple circular patch and a modified ground plane. The inclusion of two novel symmetrical rectangular slots with inner area of 3×2.8 mm2 to the top corners of the antenna creates a new path for the current and consequently leads to the bandwidth enhancement. A rectangular stub is also ado...

A New CPW-fed Patch Antenna for UWB Applications

In this paper, the design and analysis of a compact size coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed antenna for ultrawideband (UWB) applications is presented. The antenna has a compact size of 20×20× 1.5 mm and provides a good impedance matching over the entire bandwidth of 3.2–14.3 GHz. The characteristics parameters, i.e. return loss, VSWR and radiation pattern, are analyzed using HFSS 11.0 software. Keywo...

CPW-Fed UWB Slot Antenna with Reconfigurable Rejection Bands

A coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed Ultra Wideband (UWB) slot antenna with reconfigurable rejection bands is presented in this paper. The antenna has a rectangular slot with triangular structure that acts as a tuning stub with CPW feed. The notch band is achieved by inserting a rectangular slot in the ground plane with a length of λ/2. The rejection of the bands 3.1 GHz – 3.9 GHz, 4 GHz–5.3 GHz and ...

Circularly Polarized Square Patch Microstrip Antenna with Y- Shaped Slot for Wi-Max Application

A compact design of a circularly-polarized (CP) antenna to achieve wide-band behavior for WiMax applications is presented. Single feed is used to excite a single-layered square patch integrated with a novel Y-shaped slot and two different truncated corners to achieve CP polarization. Besides its structural simplicity, ease of fabrication and low cost, the proposed antenna features a satisfactor...

Circularly Polarized Square Ring Slot Antenna with Arrow-Shaped Structure

© 2009 ETRI Journal, Volume 31, Number 5, October 2009 A novel design of a compact square-ring slot microstrip antenna for achieving circular polarization (CP) operation is proposed and experimentally studied. By using an arrow-shaped slot structure as a radiating element, the resonant frequency of the proposed antenna is significantly lowered, which can lead to a large size reduction for fixed...
