Abstract:

In this paper, polymer-based nanocomposites powder were applied on the surface of plain carbon steel by electrostatic device and then were cured by microwave. The effect of adding nanoparticles on the corrosion resistance properties of the coatings was investigated by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy and immersion test in 3.5 NaCl solution. Coatings structure and morphology of nanoparticles were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The results of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy and immersion test show that the corrosion resistance of the coating is increased significantly more than 10 time, by adding nanoclay because of barrier properties of nanoparticles. Also Embedding Nanoparticles in polyester coating fabricated a denser coatings, more uniform and less pores in comparison with the pure polyester coatings. Surface roughness of coated samples were showed more roughness for nanocomposite coatings.

Preparation and Evaluation of Epoxy-Clay Nanocomposite Coatings for Corrosion Protection

Polymer-clay nanocomposite coatings have attracted much attention because of impressive enhancements of coating properties. In this research, both commercially available and isophoronediamine-modified montmorillonite clays were used to obtain epoxy-clay nanocomposite coatings. These nanocomposite materials with different clay loadings in the form of coatings were applied to cold-rolled steel (C...

Electrochemical Study of Polymer and Ceramic-Based Nanocomposite Coatings for Corrosion Protection of Cast Iron Pipeline

Coating is one of the most effective measures to protect metallic materials from corrosion. Various types of coatings such as metallic, ceramic and polymer coatings have been investigated in a quest to find durable coatings to resist electrochemical decay of metals in industrial applications. Many polymeric composite coatings have proved to be resistant against aggressive environments. Two majo...

Graphene nanocomposite coatings for protecting low-alloy steels from corrosion

facturing methods. Graphene nanocomposite coatings for protecting lowalloy steels from corrosion A ceramic engineer or scientist unfortunately must admit that there is an unwelcome member of the family among us—iron oxide, or rust. This unpleasant family member is disruptive at best. More often it is destructive, nearly impossible to control, and a consumer of resources that are devoted to it i...

The Nanostructure, Wear and Corrosion Performance of Arc Evaporated CrBxNy Nanocomposite Coatings

The composition, nanostructure, tribological and corrosion behaviour of reactive arc evaporated CrBxNy coatings have been studied and compared to CrN. The CrBxNy coatings were deposited on a commercial Oerlikon Balzers RCS coating system employing 80:20 Cr:B targets. To vary the composition, the nitrogen fraction was adjusted (N2 fraction = N2/(Ar + N2)) and a moderate bias voltage of –20 V was...

Electrosynthesis of Polyaniline-TiO2 Nanocomposite Films on Aluminum Alloy 3004 Surface and its Corrosion Protection Performance

The direct synthesis of polyaniline-TiO2 nanocomposite coatings on aluminum alloy 3004 (AA3004) surface has been investigated by using the galvanostatic method. The synthesized coatings were characterized by FT-IR, SEM-EDX, SEM and AFM. Optical absorption spectroscopy reveals the formation of the emeraldine oxidation state form of polyaniline-TiO2 nanocomposite. The corros...
