One of the approaches that brought new methods in medical concepts education is education of the concepts through new strategies. This study aimed to examine the effect of using strategies on medical concepts education. Methods: In this review article, Magiran, Eric, SID, and Science Direct databases were searched to find related articles published inthe years1991-2011. Results: The results showed that some strategies can be used for medical concepts education such as: 1. provision of examples and non-examples of the concept 2. Emphasis on important characteristics of the concept 3. preparation through basic concepts education and supporting the correct responses in medical concepts learning 4. Using other educational strategies such as conceptual map, deductive method, inductive method, organizing method, multimedia, and animation methods. Conclusion: It can be concluded that effective strategies such as conceptual mapcan be used in medical concepts education. The conceptual maps provide the possibility of person’s understanding assessment by showing mental relationships of concepts. By analyzing the relationships that learners have developed between the concepts in conceptual map, it is possible to evaluate their depth of knowledge. Therefore, in the preparation and design of a conceptual map of a subject, the high-level cognitive functions such as analysis, synthesis and evaluation are constantly used.
