Comparison of Resilience Levels and Daily Spiritual Experiences (Spirituality) Coping Styles, in Divorced and Married Women

Introduction: Following the occurrence of the divorce phenomenon, a variety of psychological injuries threatens the individual, and how to tolerate, confront and resolve those; determine the mental health of the individual. The present study was conducted to compare resilience levels and daily spiritual experiences (spirituality) coping styles in divorced and married women. Methods: This descriptive research was a causal-comparative design. The statistical population of this study was all divorced and married women in Karaj city. One hundred divorced women and one hundred married and non-divorced women were selected through the available sampling method. Coping responses inventory (CRI), Connor-Davidson resilience scale (CD-RISC) and the daily spiritual experience scale by Underwood LG, Teresi JA used as research tools. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance and analyzed by SPSS22 software. Results: The results of the data analysis indicated that there was a significant difference in the coping strategies, problem-oriented coping, excitement, resilience and daily spiritual experiences between divorced and married women. Married women in resilient and coping strategies and divorced women in emotions and spirituality coping strategy with have achieved higher scores. Conclusions: Based on findings of this study, it is suggested to consider furthermore studies to improve coping styles and increase the resilience of divorced women; and also effects of coping styles and resilience on their quality of life and mental health should be investigated.
