Comparing the Efficiency of Dmus with Normal and Skew-Normal Distribution using Data Envelopment Analysis
Authors
Abstract:
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a nonparametric approach to evaluate theefficiency of decision making units (DMU) using mathematical programmingtechniques. Almost, all of the previous researches in stochastic DEA have been usedthe stochastic data when the inputs and outputs are normally distributed. But, thisassumption may not be true in practice. Therefore, using a normal distribution willbe lead to wrong results. The skew-normal (SN) distribution is one of the importantdistribution in statistics. The SN distribution is an asymmetric distribution which hassimilar properties to a normal distribution and it can be extended to the normaldistributions. In the present study, a stochastic BCC model was proposed formeasuring the stochastic efficiency of DMUs with inputs and outputs having Skew-Normal (SN) distribution. Moreover, it is shown that this model encompasses theBCC model assuming the normality of data as well. The proposed model inmeasuring the efficiency of a bank's 25 branches is used.

Cost Efficiency Measures In Data Envelopment Analysis With Nonhomogeneous DMUs
In the conventional data envelopment analysis (DEA), it is assumed that all decision making units (DMUs) using the same input and output measures, means that DMUs are homogeneous. In some settings, however, this usual assumption of DEA might be violated. A related problem is the problem of textit{missing} textit{data} where a DMU produces a certain output or consumes a certain input but the val...
full textData Envelopment Analysis with Nonhomogeneous DMUs
Data envelopment analysis (DEA), as originally proposed, is a methodology for evaluating the relative efficiencies of a set of homogeneous decision-making units (DMUs) in the sense that each uses the same input and output measures (in varying amounts from one DMU to another). In some situations, however, the assumption of homogeneity among DMUs may not apply. As an example, consider the case wh...
full textGeneralizations of the Skew t-Normal Distribution and their Properties
In this paper we consider several generalizations of the skew t-normal distribution, and some of their properties. Also, we represent several theorems for constructing each generalized skew t-normal distribution. Next, we illustrate the application of the proposed distribution studying the ratio of two heavy metals, Nickel and Vanadium, associated with crude oil in Shadgan wetland in the south-...
full textProbability-possibility DEA model with Fuzzy random data in presence of skew-Normal distribution
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a mathematical method to evaluate the performance of decision-making units (DMU). In the performance evaluation of an organization based on the classical theory of DEA, input and output data are assumed to be deterministic, while in the real world, the observed values of the inputs and outputs data are mainly fuzzy and random. A normal distribution is a contin...
full textA Two-parameter Balakrishnan Skew-normal Distribution
In this paper, we discuss a generalization of Balakrishnan skew-normal distribution with two parameters that contains the skew-normal, the Balakrishnan skew-normal and the two-parameter generalized skew-normal distributions as special cases. Furthermore, we establish some useful properties and two extensions of this distribution.

Background: The health sector is one of the most important service sectors and one of the indicators of development and social welfare. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of Iranchr('39')s health system compared to developed countries. Methods: This study used data envelopment analysis to evaluate efficiency. All members of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Develo...
