Comparing Home-based Pulmonary Rehabilitation Nursing on Fatigue and quality of life in Patients with COPD
Authors
Abstract:
Background & Objective:The aim of the present study is to compare the effects of home-based pulmonary rehabilitation nursing care on Fatigue and QOL in patients with COPD. Materials & Methods: This study was a semi experimental research. The samples were consisted of 36 patients who were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria into control and experimental groups through random block sampling. For each of the experimental group 3 sessions of 1 hour raining over three consecutive days were done individually and it continuous up to 7 days after the patients discharged from the hospital. However, the control group was under the regular manner. Fatigue and quality of life in both groups before the intervention and 7 weeks after discharge using the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) and quality of life questionnaire SF-12 were compared. The data were analyzed through inferential and descriptive statistic (Independent and paired t-test, chi-square and covariance analysis). Results: Eta squared values obtained in this experiment also showed that the effect of home-based pulmonary rehabilitation program on fatigue (89%) is greater than the quality of life (50%), respectively. Conclusion: As the findings indicate, the effect of home-based pulmonary rehabilitation nursing care, which has the decreasing factor on fatigue is more than the quality of life in patients with COPD.

Effect of Home-based Pulmonary Rehabilitation on Daily Activity of Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Background: Pulmonary rehabilitation is an important part of treatment in patients with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) with the goal of achieving and maintaining maximum functional independence since this disease causes symptoms including fatigue, and consequently decrease in daily living activity. Aim: To determine the effect of home-based pulmonary rehabilitation on daily living...

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) impacts the quality of life of the affected patients. The present study aimed to determine the effects of home-based self-care program follow-up on re-hospitalization frequency and quality of life in COPD patients. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was performed on 44 COPD patients at Masih Daneshvari Hospital in Tehran City, Iran, ...

INTRODUCTION Personalized, global pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) management of patients with COPD is effective, regardless of the place in which this rehabilitation is provided. The objective of this retrospective observational study was to study the long-term outcome of exercise capacity and quality of life during management of patients with COPD treated by home-based PR. METHODS Home-based P...

We have developed a rehabilitation programme at home and have investigated its effects on quality of life (QOL), lung function, and exercise tolerance in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We studied 43 patients with severe airflow obstruction: forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) 1.3 +/- 0.4 l (mean +/- SD), FEV1/inspiratory vital capacity (IVC) 37 +/- 7.9%. A...

We investigated whether 12 weeks of rehabilitation at home in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) had a beneficial effect on lactate production, metabolic gas exchange data, workload of the inspiratory muscles, and dyspnoea during a maximal bicycle ergometer test. A second aim was to assess whether a change in dyspnoea was related to a change of inspiratory muscle workloa...
