Comparative Study on Silver Nanoparticles Properties Produced by Green Methods

Abstract:

In the present study, properties of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) such as average size, size distribution andmorphology were investigated by Tollens, polysaccharide, modified polysaccharide and microbial methods. The synthesized AgNPs were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamics light scattering (DLS) and energy dispersiveX-ray (EDX) analyses. Analysis of reaction mixtures confirmed that Tollens, polysaccharide and modifiedpolysaccharide methods generated smaller AgNPs with better size distribution as compared to that producedin microbial method. The average size of produced AgNPs by Tollens, polysaccharide and modifiedpolysaccharide were 42, 30 and 20 nm respectively. Moreover, microbial method generated AgNPs with average size of 54 nm in the case of cell-free filtrate mediated synthesis and 84 nm in case of the supernatant mediated synthesis. Analysis of fungus-mediated synthesis of AgNPs showed that the size distribution of AgNPs produced by supernatant is narrower than that produced by filtrate. Also, cell-free filtrateresulted in the formation of smaller AgNPs with average size of 59 nm compared to the supernatant. Thecomparative analysis of produced AgNPs by the above mentioned methods confirmed that modified polysaccharide method led to the formation of AgNPs with smallest size and highest productivity.

Investigation of antibacterial properties silver nanoparticles prepared via green method

UNLABELLED BACKGROUND This study aims to investigate the influence of different stirring times on antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles in polyethylene glycol (PEG) suspension. The silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) were prepared by green synthesis method using green agents, polyethylene glycol (PEG) under moderate temperature at different stirring times. Silver nitrate (AgNO3) was taken...

Biogenic silver nanoparticles associated with silver chloride nanoparticles (Ag@AgCl) produced by laccase from Trametes versicolor

In the present study, semi-purified laccase from Trametes versicolor was applied for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles, and the properties of the produced nanoparticles were characterized. All of the analyses of the spectra indicated silver nanoparticle formation. A complete characterization of the silver nanoparticles showed that a complex of silver nanoparticles and silver ions was produc...

Comparative synthesis of ZrO2 nanoparticles by green and co-precipitation methods: The effect of template on structure

It was shown that the structure and particle size of zirconia nanoparticles has been controlled through the homogeneous precipitation process by using templates. Hexamine as the template led to ZrO2 nanoparticles with tetragonal structure, whereas coffee extract favored monoclinic structures. Field Emission Scanning electron microscopy (FeSEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurement...
