Comparative account of antifungal activity of green and chemically synthesized Zinc Oxide nanoparticles in combination with agricultural fungicides
Authors
Abstract:
The present study aims at study on combined effect of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO) with common agricultural fungicides. Nanoparticles were synthesized using chemical reduction process and characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Synthesized nanoparticles were observed to be in size range of 12-63 nm as confirmed by TEM micrograph. DLS established polydisperse nature of nanoparticles and provided effective hydrodynamic diameter of 76.15 nm, confirming the hypothesis of particles being in nano range. Nanoparticles were tested against fungal phytopathogens, namely A. alternata, A. niger, B. cinerea, F. oxysporum and P. expansum. Nanoparticles used in the study exhibited good antifungal activity. Both classes of nanoparticles (green and chemically synthesized) w

The investigation of the effects of synthesized Zinc oxide nanoparticles on the DNA using green chemistry
In this study, the extract of coffee powder for green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles has been used because it is compatibility with the environment and it does not produce any toxic substances in the reaction. Then, the interaction of zinc oxide nanoparticles with calf thymus DNA with various spectroscopic methods such as UV-Visible, fluorescence and circular dichroism (CD) techniques wa...

Nano-sized ZnO particles of specific morphology were synthesized using the plant leaf extracts of Aloe vera. The structures, morphology, optical properties, surface area and thermal behavior of these fabricated ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Ultravioletvisible spectroscopy (UV-vis), Photoluminescence (PL)/flourescence spectro...
full textAntiangiogenic and antiapoptotic effects of green-synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles using Sargassum muticum algae extraction
Background Algae are one of the natural materials used to green synthesis of nanoparticles. This method leads to minimize the toxicity of the chemical materials used to nanoparticle synthesis. Methods In this study, zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) synthesized by Sargassum muticum algae extraction used to evaluate its cytotoxicity and apoptotic properties on human liver cancer cell line (He...

Introduction: Free radicals are molecules that have unpaired electrons in their last layer. The excessive production of free radicals causes oxidative stress. Oxidative stress thus adversely alters proteins, DNA and oxidation of the membrane phospholipids. Methods: The cytotoxic effects of zinc oxide nanoparticle were evaluated using MTT (3- (4-5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl) -2,5-difenyltetrazolium br...
