Coating of Titania Nanoparticles on Stainless Steel Using an Alkoxide Precursor
Authors
Abstract:
Uniform nanostructure coating of TiO2 was prepared on 316L stainless steel by sol-gel method using Tetra-n-Butyle Titanat (TBT) as alkoxide material. 316L specimens were coated with the mentioned sol by dip coating method. The influences of preparation condition, pH of sol on TiO2 nanostructure coating were investigated. Their structural properties were examined at various calcination temperatures. The effect of drying cycle and solvent bath on crack reduction and the influence of withdrawal speed on thickness of the film was evaluated. Choosing of alcohol as a drying atmosphere could hinder the cracks formation. 400°C was desirable temperature to obtain nanoparticles from anatase phase. At this temperature it was found that TiO2 films exhibited a uniform anatase structure with particle size of about 15 nm.

Water Lubrication of Stainless Steel using Reduced Graphene Oxide Coating
Lubrication of mechanical systems using water instead of conventional oil lubricants is extremely attractive from the view of resource conservation and environmental protection. However, insufficient film thickness of water due to low viscosity and chemical reaction of water with metallic materials have been a great obstacle in utilization of water as an effective lubricant. Herein, the frictio...

Low carbon steels are widely used for structural applications because of its ease in fabrication and the moderate strength it posses. However, its pure corrosion resistance at normal atmosphere is a matter of serious concern.

The photocatalytic coatings were prepared via incorporating the modified titania nanoparticles into epoxy-based inorganic-organic hybrid coatings. Titania nanoparticles were first synthesized from tetra-n-butyl titanate using sol-gel methods by two different calcination treatments, i.e., in mild condition (80°C) and 500°C. The formed anatase nanoparticles were further modified as Titania-Silica...

Coating titania shells onto sub-micron sized particles has been widely studied recently, with success mainly limited to objects with sizes above 50 nm. Direct coating on particles below this size has been difficult to attain especially with good control over properties such as thickness and crystallinity. Here we demonstrate that titanium-glycolate formed by reacting titanium alkoxide and ethyl...
