Clinicopathological study in an ovine model of experimental acute myocardial infarction
Authors
Abstract:
To evaluate the prognostic significance of clinicopathological measurement in the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (MI) in sheep, acute MI was induced by ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD). For this purpose, twenty four healthy sheep were divided into the sham-operated or control group (group I, thoracotomy without MI) and the experimental group (group II, with MI) (n=12 in each), then all animals were subjected to the echocardiographic and clinicopathological analysis 2 days post-MI. Echocardiography revealed significant differences in left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD), LV end-systolic diameter (LVESD), LV ejection fraction (LVEF) and LV fractional shortening (LVFS) between groups (P

To diagnose acute myocardial infarction, selected cardiac markers as well as hematological and biochemical indices have been studied in human being, however, rare investigations were done on the values of hematologic analysis in an ovine model of myocardial infarction. To observe the change of the values in hematologic parameters in sheep, acute myocardial infarction was induced by ligation of ...

Oxidised LDL in Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Case-Control Study
Introduction: The metabolism of many fats, including free fatty acids and oxidized low density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) play an important role in the development of atherosclerosis. The aim of this study was to determine the association between circulating ox-LDL and acute myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The case control study conducted on 43 patients with acute myocardial infarction ...

Background: Pre-clinical investigation of stem cells for repairing damaged myocardium predominantly used rodents, however large animals have cardiac circulation closely resembling the human heart. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether SPECT/CT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) could be used for assessing sheep myocardium following an acute myocardial infarction (MI) and response to int...
full textExpansion of Acute Myocardial Infarction : An Experimental Study JUDITH
Expansion (regional dilatation and thinning) of acutely infarcted myocardium in man has been shown to correlate with overall cardiac dilatation and rupture. We studied gross and histopathologic features and the time course of expansion in rats. Infarcts were produced in 84 rats by ligation of the left coronary artery and studied at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 days. All hearts were prepared by potassium...
