Ciliate species Epistylis sp. cause to fish deaths

author

Abstract:

A group of unicellular ciliates such Epistylis are amplified at aquatic environment by governor of food contamination. In the case, fixed ciliates like Epistylis are colonized as Ectoparasites on fishes, Aquatic crustaceans, Turtle and Aquatic plants. They graze food residue or bacteria or decompose residue like Ectoparasites. In this case, Epistylis licking their stems to the surface body of fish and cause to death at rivers, Aquarium and Pool by the discharge cell provocateurs ulcers and skin diseases. Intense pollution with Epistylis is determined through white small swell. These are turned up at all surface of fish body and gills. In this case fish respiratory is faced to some difficulties. Best way to prevent this issues is to keep water clean and cool, suitable food that not polluted water, decrease number of beast at aquarium or pools, use of UV light and filter and combining salt and Formaldehyde.

Metazoan parasite species richness and genetic variation among freshwater fish species: cause or consequence?

The factors responsible for the maintenance of genetic variation among natural populations remain a mystery. Recent models of host-parasite co-evolution assume that parasites exert frequency-dependent selection on their hosts by favouring rare alleles that may confer resistance against infection. We tested this prediction in a comparative analysis that sought relationships between levels of gen...

First record of an epibiont protozoan Epistylis sp. (Ciliophora, Peritrichia) attached to Ergasilus chelangulatus (Ergasilidae) in Brazil.

In the present paper, we described the first record of an epibiont protozoan Epistylis sp. Ehrenberg, 1830 (Ciliophora, Peritrichia) attached to Ergasilus chelangulatus Thatcher and Brasil-Sato, 2008, parasite of Pimelodus maculatus Lacépède, 1803 in Brazil, with electron microscope observations. Fish were collected in Veados River, state of São Paulo and the crustacean Ergasilus chelangulatus ...

Macronuclear Regeneration in Epistylis articulata

The reorganization of the macronucleus from the vegetative micronucleus is described in Epistylis articulata (Ciliophora, Peritricha). Individuals which have accidentally been deprived of a macronucleus during binary fission develop a new one from the micronucleus. In such amacronucleate animals, the micronucleus divides into two, one of them growing into a macronucleus, the other remaining as ...

Ectoparasites of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in cage farming in a hydroelectric reservoir in Brazil.

For this study, we performed a parasitological analysis of cage-cultured Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) from the Água Vermelha Reservoir, Southeastern Brazil, and verified relationships with limnological data, seasonality, and fish growth phase. From March 2010 to March 2011, sixty-three specimens of O. niloticus in three growth phases (i.e., initial, intermediate, and final) were collect...
