Carbon Nanotubes Technology for Removal of Arsenic from Water
Authors
Abstract:
Aims of the Study: This study was aimed to investigate the adsorption mechanism of the arsenic removal from water by using carbon nanotubes in continuous adsorption column. Materials & Methods: Independent variables including carbon nanotubes dosage, contact time and breakthrough point were carried out to determine the influence of these parameters on the adsorption capacity of the arsenic from water. Results: Adsorption capacities of single wall and multiwall carbon nanotubes were about 148 mg/g and 95 mg/g respectively. The experimental data were analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models and equilibrium data indicate the best fit obtained with Langmuir isotherm model. Conclusions: Carbon nanotubes can be considered as a promising adsorbent for the removal of arsenic from large volume of aqueous solutions.

full textRemoval of arsenic from water by electrocoagulation.
In the present study electrocoagulation (EC) has been evaluated as a treatment technology for arsenite [As(III)] and arsenate [As(V)] removal from water. Laboratory scale experiments were conducted with three electrode materials namely, iron, aluminum and titanium to assess their efficiency. Arsenic removal obtained was highest with iron electrodes. EC was able to bring down aqueous phase arsen...
full textPreparation of nanofilter from carbon nanotubes for application in virus removal from water
A carbonaceous nanofilter was fabricated by a continuous spray pyrolysis method by using n-hexane as a carbon source and ferrocene as a catalyst source. Different parameters such as catalyst concentration, temperature, gas flow rate and reaction time affecting the purity of synthesized carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were used to construct the nanofilter. The reaction time was controlled and its effect...
