Calibration Weighting to Compensate for Extreme Values, Non-response and Non-coverage in Labor Force Survey
Authors
Abstract:
Frame imperfection, non-response and unequal selection probabilities always affect survey results. In order to compensate for the effects of these problems, Devill and Särndal (1992) introduced a family of estimators called calibration estimators. In these estimators we look for weights that have minimum distance with design weights based on a distance function and satisfy calibration equations. In this paper after introducing generalized regression estimator, we explain general form of calibration estimators. Then special cases of calibration estimators due to using different distance functions, practical aspects and results of comparing the methods are ... [To continue please click here]

Weighting for Non-Response
Non-response is a problem which pervades almost all survey research. This paper reviews ways in which adjustments for the biasing effects of non-response can be made at the analysis stage. The emphasis is practical rather than theoretical. Practical constraints on the choice of weighting method (or whether to weight at all) are discussed, as well as statistical implications and how to assess th...
full textnon-corrective approach to pronunciation
the aim of this study has been to find answers for the following questions: 1. what is the effect of immediate correction on students pronunciation errors? 2. what would be the effect of teaching the more rgular patterns of english pronunciation? 3. is there any significant difference between the two methods of dealing with pronuciation errore, i. e., correction and the teaching of the regular ...

Telephone survey: post-stratification adjustments to compensate non-coverage bias in city of Rio Branco, Northern Brazil.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effects of using post-stratification weight to correct the bias due to low coverage of households with telephones. METHODS A Comparison was made of results collected by the Household Survey with those of the VIGITEL (Telephone Survey to Monitor Risk and Protective Factors for Chronic Diseases) in Rio Branco, Northern Brazil, in 2007 whose coverage was 40% of landline...
