Abstract:

A 50 years old woman with history of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor diagnosed 2 years ago, which has not been surgically removed, was referred to our department for a 99mTc-Octreotate in order to evaluate the somatostatin receptor status. She was treated with regular sandostatin injections and chemotherapy. Her CT scan which was previously performed confirmed lung, adrenal and hepatic metastases. In her original pancreatic mass biopsy, well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas with 3% rate of KI-67 positivity was reported. Whole body 99mTc-Octreotate scan was obtained 4 hours post-intravenous injection of 20 mCi of the radiotracer showed multiple areas of increased tracer uptake in the pancreas, left adrenal, both breasts and left axillary region. Considering the fact that metastasis of the pancreatic NET to the breast is extremely rare, we recommended mammographic correlation and tissue biopsy. Her CT scan images and mammography confirmed breast masses and the biopsy revealed metastatic NET from the pancreatic origin.

Occult Primary Neuroendocrine Tumor Metastasis to the Breast Detected on Screening Mammogram

Metastatic tumors are rare in the breast. Well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (WDNETs) are slow-growing neoplasms that arise from neuroendocrine cells, particularly in the gastrointestinal tract and bronchial tree. Metastatic WDNET to the breast is a rare entity. We present a case report of ileal WDNET metastatic to the breast which was initially identified as a small mass in the patient'...

INTRODUCTION Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors are rare. Treatment includes aggressive local management of the primary lesion and metastases, and systemic somatostatin. This is the first report of an isolated metachronous metastasis to the adrenal gland from a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor that presented 90 months after the primary tumor. PRESENTATION OF CASE The patient presented as a 53yo ...

a rare case of calf muscle metastasis from a non-functional pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinoma

pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pnet) are uncommon pancreatic neoplasms, accounting for 1-2% of all pancreatic tumors. however, they have a better prognosis and long-term survival compared to exocrine pancreatic cancer. pnets can be divided into functional or non-functional based upon whether or not they excrete active substances relevant to specific clinical syndromes. skeletal muscle metast...

Gastric tumor from metastasis of breast cancer.

Metastatic tumours of the stomach have been reported to result from various types of cancer. Among them, gastric metastasis from breast cancer has been recognised in 0.3-18% patients (1-4). Here, a rare case of metastatic gastric tumour derived from breast carcinoma is reported. Gastric endoscopy confirmed a large, friable mass (approximately 5 cm in diameter) in the upper part of the gastric b...
