Abstract:
The mode of coordination of8 manganese(fI), cobaltm, nickel(H), copper(II), zinc(H), lead(II) and cadmium(I1) to sodium ascorbate (NaHAsc) was investigated using IR, UV-visible, AAS, elemental microanalyzer, conductivity, magnetic and 'M and I3C NMR spectroscopic studies, NaNAsc is bidentate and coordination was through the carbonyl group and the oxygen atom of carbon-2 enolic hydfoxyl group, The complexes are mainly high spin octahedral complexes based on the magnetic moment and spectral data.

full textMetal (II) Complexes of Fluconazole: Thermal, XRD and Cytotoxicity Studies
We report thermal, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and cytotoxicity studies of complexes of fluconazole (FCZ) with Cu (II), Fe(II), Cd(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Mn(II). From XRD measurements, FCZ and its metal complexes were identified as polycrystalline. Marked differences in the X-ray patterns of drug and its metal complexes revealed that the complexes are indeed different compounds and not just the m...
full textSodium-ascorbate cotransport controls intracellular ascorbate concentration in primary astrocyte cultures expressing the SVCT2 transporter.
Expression of the Na(+)-ascorbate cotransporter, SVCT2, was detected in rat brain and in primary cultures of cerebral astrocytes by Northern blot analysis. SVCT2 expression in cultured astrocytes increased in response to the cyclic AMP analog, dibutyryl cyclic AMP. A mathematical model of ascorbic acid transport was developed to evaluate the hypothesis that Na(+)-ascorbate cotransport across th...

full textMetal Hydrides: Transition Metal Hydride Complexes
Solid-state metal hydrides provide a safe and efficient way of storing hydrogen (Schlapbach 2002). They are commercialized for use in rechargeable batteries and developed for energy conversion devices such as fuel cells (see Hydrogen Metal Systems: Electrochemical Reactions). A great majority of metal hydrides derives from intermetallic compounds and alloys (see Hydrogen Metal Systems: Hydride ...
