Abstract:

Water pollution caused by thermal power plant effluent discharges has become a worrisome phenomenon due to its impact on environmental health and safety. Many treatment processes that have been used to remove heavy metals from wastewater are suffered from high cost. Chitosan is a low cost adsorbent which is biodegradable and biocompatible polymer obtained from shrimp biowaste. In the present study, both chitosan and chitosan TPP nano particles showed ability to remove the two important heavy metals like lead and Iron from thermal effluents. Chitosan TPP nano particles showed high efficiency in the adsorption of heavy metals when compare to chitosan alone. Our results showed that the adsorption process is concentration driven with high capacity of chitosan and chitosan TPP nanoparticles for the adsorption of these metal ions.Water pollution caused by thermal power plant effluent discharges has become a worrisome phenomenon due to its impact on environmental health and safety. Whey Processing with Nano Chitosan

Since maleic acid is capable of specially dissolving Chitosan, in this research the method of producing water lubricant nanoparticles in Chitosan solution, based on maleic acid has been studied. The resulting nanoparticles have a remarkable contact surface with the ordinary Chitosan form in absorbing metal ions, proteins and fat existing in Whey. After providing the 0.02, 0.03, 0.05 gr. density...

Wastewater Treatment with Chitosan Nano-particles

Chitosan interact with polyphosphate ions to form nanoparticles with different diameters depending on the mutual ratio among them. Three nanoparticles have been prepared and were characterized by spectral and X-ray diffraction tools. TEM analysis revealed there diameters. The nanoparticles were thoroughly studied for wastewater treatment such as the removal of Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Bioch...

Chitosan in Plant Protection

Chitin and chitosan are naturally-occurring compounds that have potential in agriculture with regard to controlling plant diseases. These molecules were shown to display toxicity and inhibit fungal growth and development. They were reported to be active against viruses, bacteria and other pests. Fragments from chitin and chitosan are known to have eliciting activities leading to a variety of de...

Chitosan Effects on Plant Systems

Chitosan (CHT) is a natural, safe, and cheap product of chitin deacetylation, widely used by several industries because of its interesting features. The availability of industrial quantities of CHT in the late 1980s enabled it to be tested in agriculture. CHT has been proven to stimulate plant growth, to protect the safety of edible products, and to induce abiotic and biotic stress tolerance in...

Synthesis and Characterization of Silver and Gold Nano-Structures on Chitosan-Porous Anodic Alumina Nano-Composite

This study was designed to probe the fabrication of unique silver and gold nano-structures engaging a self-designed chitosan-porous anodic alumina nano-composite as a template. Porous anodic alumina has been manufactured by di-step aluminum anodization in an oxalic acid electrolytic bath. The surface properties of porous anodic alumina were reinforced by chitosan neutralized in sodium hydro...
