Beliefs and behaviors of radiographers concerning “Digital Chest Radiography”
Authors
Abstract:
Aims Chest radiography is the first choice for the investigation of cardiovascular and respiratory disease. Radiographer technologists are responsible for managing the radiation exposure to patients and providing adequate image quality according to the ALARA concept. The knowledge and experience of radiographers in performing chest radiography helps to improve the diagnosis of diseases. The aim of this study was to assess the beliefs and behaviors of Radiographers on digital chest radiography in medical imaging departments. Participants & Methods For conducting the knowledge of radiographers, a descriptive questionnaire-based study was carried out on 65 radiographers and for assessing the practice of radiographers each radiography was analyzed by two experienced radiologists and researchers according to the checklist. By implementing the checklist, 390 digital chest radiographs were assessed during and after each procedure to evaluate the practice of radiographers. Findings The mean values of the radiographers’ knowledge and practice were 85.48 and 78.79 (out of 100), respectively. 5.38% of digital chest radiography (21 of 390) led to repetition. Conclusion Radiographers should be properly trained on digital chest radiography for reducing the patient radiation dose and improve image quality and radiological interpretation.

The Practice of Chest Radiography Using Different Digital Imaging Systems: Dose and Image Quality
Introduction: The study was undertaken to evaluate the practice of chest radiography using different digital imaging systems and its influence on dose and image quality. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out in two hospitals from March 2016 to June 2016. Sixty ambulatory patients aged 21 to 60 years who were able to cooperate without difficulty and weighed between 60 to 80 kg were ...

Endobronchial tuberculosis and chest radiography I read, with interest, the article entitled “Clinical and Para-clinical Presentations of Endobronchial Tuberculosis” by Ahmadi Hoseini H. S. et al. (1) published in this journal. I would like to focus on some details about the chest X-ray of patients as elaborated by the authors in the results section. Accordingly, the findings of chest radiograp...

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES To examine the effectiveness and suitability of a quality control (QC) phantom for a routine QC program in digital radiography. MATERIALS AND METHODS The chest phantom consists of copper and aluminum cutouts arranged to resemble the appearance of a chest. Performance of the digital radiography (DR) system is evaluated using high and low contrast resolution objects pla...

In the study “Is Chest Radiography Necessary After Uncomplicated Insertion of a Triple Lumen Catheter in the Right Internal Jugular Vein, Using the Anterior Approach?” (January 2005),1 Lessnau cites a line misplacement rate of 2%, which was associated with a difficult catheter insertion procedure. All complications were due to misplaced sites, with no episodes of pneumothorax in evidence. In co...
full textPatient effective dose evaluation for chest X-ray examination in three digital radiography centers
Background: The radiation doses resulting from diagnostic X-ray examinations are routinely measured in terms of entrance surface dose (ESD) and effective dose (ED). In this study, for the purpose of radiation protection, the radiation doses received from Digital chest X-ray examination were evaluated in terms of ESD and ED. Material and Methods: The ED was calculated by using the MCNP ...
