Abstract:

As special depositional environments which are adjacent to the seas, deltas have provided a field for human habitat establishment. Geomorphic features of deltas are in constant transformation due to their dynamic features. Constructing dams on rivers can intensify these changes and cause either negative or positive consequences. Minab delta in Hormozgan Province of Iran is a round or crescent-shaped delta which has Esteghlal Dam constructed on its creating river. Minab Dam is constructed upstream of Minab Delta in Hormozgan Province. The research aimed to derive  landscape metrics of delta and assess their changes before and after the construction of dams. Landsat Satellite images of 1983 and 2013 provided the four classes as abandoned delta, active delta, subaqueous deltaic plain and aquatic environment, using maximum likelihood method, with a Kappa Coefficient accuracy of 86.55 and 88.42 for revealing changes quantitatively. To quantify landscape metrics, percentage of landscape (PLAND), Number of Patch (NP) and Mean Patch Size (MPS) metrics were computed. As indicated by the results, the NP metric increased in all the classes except active delta, and all classes showed a reduction in MPS metric. The amount of NP, Mean Nearest Neighbor (MNN) and Largest Patch Index (LPI) increased to the 22, 19 m and 1.43 percent, respectively, which clearly reveals landscape fragmentation, along with growing NP metric and a reduction in MPS.

on translation of politeness strategies in dialogues involving female characters in translations and retranslations of novels translated before and after the islamic revolution of iran and their effects on the image of women: a polysystem theory approach

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...

Construction and Eukaryotic Expression of Recombinant Large Hepatitis Delta Antigen

Background: Hepatitis delta virus (HDV) is a subviral human pathogen that exploits host RNA editing activity to produce two essential forms of the sole viral protein, hepatitis delta antigen (HDAg). Editing at the amber/W site of HDV antigenomic RNA leads to the production of the large form (L-HDAg), which is required for RNA packaging. Methods: In this study, PCR-based site-directed mutagen...

Multidimensional Image Morphs: Construction and User Interface

In this thesis, I design and implement a system that creates multidimensional image morphs. Multidimensional image morphs are images constructed by cross-fading an arbitrary number of input images after alignment. This alignment is specified by corresponding features. The feature correspondences used by my system are given as a collection of digital image morphs between pairs of images. These t...

Optimization of time and temperature of dam construction for thermal analysis of RCC dam

In RCC dams, usually large amounts of concrete are poured in a short time that the heat generated by the cement hydration has led to an increase in temperature in the dam body. In this research, Abacus software, which is a finite element software, has been used for thermal analysis of the dam during construction and concreting. This is how thermal changes are applied. For the structure of 50 c...

Zolqarnein’s Dam Construction

The Holy Quran is God’s miracle and its scientific miracle aspects or wonders have been recognized by development of human scientific abilities. Stating the story of Zolqarnein and dam construction by him, verses 83 to 98 of Al-Kahf have pointed to some scientific points and facts regarding safety industry, impenetrability and consolidation of iron through putting a coating of copper on its sur...
