Application of Polypyrrole Coated Stainless-Steel Wire to the Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction of Aliphatic Amines

Authors: not saved
Abstract:

The electrochemical coating technique was used for the preparation of a polypyrrole coating on a stainless-steel wire, and applied as a fibre for solid phase microextraction (SPME). The polypyrrole fibre was employed for analyzing four volatile aliphatic amines (ethylamine, propylamine, butylamine and pentylamine) in water by headspace SPME using gas chromatography-flame ionization detection (GC-FID). Results showed that this fibre coating is suitable for the successful extraction of the target analytes. The effects of the extraction parameters including exposure time, sampling temperature, salt concentration, and stirring rate on the extraction efficiency was optimized. Relative standard deviations (RSDs) was determined ? 4.3%. The correlation coefficient was satisfactory (r2 > 0.98) for the studied analytes. Detection limits were between 0.9 and 1.6 µg.L?1. Good recoveries (99-106 %) were obtained when spiked water and wastewater samples were analyzed.

Solid phase microextraction fibers coated with sol-gel aminopropylsilica/polydimethylsiloxane: development and its application to screening of beer headspace.

The preparation and applicability of solid phase microextraction (SPME) fibers coated with a sol-gel organically modified silica based on 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane and polydimethylsiloxane (APTMS/PDMS) are described here. Micrographs of the coated fibers revealed a rugous surface; the thickness of the coating was estimated to be less than 30 microm. The APTMS/PDMS fibers were tested with sy...

Solid-phase microextraction and headspace solid-phase microextraction for the determination of polychlorinated biphenyls in water samples.

A solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method has been developed for the quantification of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in water samples. Parameters such as sampling time, volume of water, volume of headspace, temperature, addition of salts, and agitation of the sample were studied. Because the time for reaching equilibrium between phases takes several hours or days, depending on the experime...

Determination of monocyclic aromatic amines using headspace solid-phase microextraction based on sol-gel technique prior to GC.

In this research, the headspace solid-phase microextraction (SPME) coupled with GC flame ionization detector was applied for the determination of some monocyclic aromatic amines in real water and urine samples. A sol-gel technique was applied for the preparation of the SPME fibers. Two different sol-gel coatings, (PEG and poly(ethylene glycol) modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes [PEG/CN...

Application of Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction for Determination of Chloro-Organic Compounds in Sewage Samples

Solid phase microextraction (SPME) has been optimized and applied to the determination of the volatile halogenated compounds (VHCs) and semi-volatile halogenated compounds (SVHCs). Three types of SPME fiber coated with different stationary phases (PDMS-100 mum, CAR/PDMS-75 mum, PDMS/DVB-65 mum) were used to examine their extraction efficiencies for the compounds tested. Experimental parameters ...

Comparison between dynamic headspace and headspace solid-phase microextraction for gas chromatography of BTEX in urine.

The aim of this study was to compare two extraction procedures: dynamic headspace-purge and trap (PT) and headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) for gas chromatographic determination of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and isomeric xylenes (BTEX) in urine with photoionization (PID) and mass spectrometric (MS) detection, respectively. Both methods showed linearity in the range of interes...

Preparation of temperature sensitive molecularly imprinted polymer for solid-phase microextraction coatings on stainless steel fiber to measure ofloxacin.

A kind of new temperature sensitive molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) with ofloxacin (OFL) as template was prepared for the coating of solid phase microextraction (SPME). Dopamine was self-polymerized on stainless steel fiber (SSF) as the SPME support followed by silanization. Then MIP was synthesized as SPME coating on the modified SSF in a capillary, with N-isopropyl acrylamide as temperatu...
