Antibacterial Activity and Conductivity Properties of Nanocomposites based on Cellulose Acetate Nanofibers and Copper Nanoparticles
Authors
Abstract:
in this work, nanocomposites comprising copper nanoparticle in cellulose acetate (CA)matrices have been prepared. In this manner, Copper nanoparticles prepared by its saltreduced by sodium borohydride at various concentration. Then this nanoparticle solution wasmixed with polymer solution and electrospun by electrospinning device. The abovenanocomposite has been successfully detected by SEM, EDAX, FT-IR and UV-VisSpectroscopy and indicated that not only nanocopper and cellulose nanofiberhave createdgood chemical interaction but also a relatively suitable size and distribution has been yieldedin the fibers. The resulted nanocomposite conductivity by four-probe method showed aremarkable conductivity produced by nanocopper distribution in the tissue of nanocompositesincreasing as concentration rises. In addition, it has been realized that the abovenanocomposites have good antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus (grampositive)and also Escherichia Coli and Klebsiellapneumonia (gram-negative) bacteria.

Antibacterial Activity of Nanocomposites of Copper and Cellulose
The design of cheap and safe antibacterial materials for widespread use has been a challenge in materials science. The use of copper nanostructures combined with abundant biopolymers such as cellulose offers a potential approach to achieve such materials though this has been less investigated as compared to other composites. Here, nanocomposites comprising copper nanofillers in cellulose matric...

Abstract In the present study, nanoparticles of copper and copper oxides were synthesized and their antibacterial activity was evaluated and compared with silver nanoparticles. The nanoparticles were synthesized using facile chemical reactions, and then characterized using field emission scanning microscopy. The nanoparticles were stable for at least two weeks. The...
full textStudies on Properties of Rice Straw/Polymer Nanocomposites Based on Polycaprolactone and Fe3O4 Nanoparticles and Evaluation of Antibacterial Activity
Modified rice straw/Fe3O4/polycaprolactone nanocomposites (ORS/Fe3O4/ PCL-NCs) have been prepared for the first time using a solution casting method. The RS/Fe3O4-NCs were modified with octadecylamine (ODA) as an organic modifier. The prepared NCs were characterized by using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Thermogravime...
full textImproving the Proton Conductivity and Antibacterial Properties of Sulfonated Polybenzimidazole/ZnO/Cellulose with Surface Functionalized Cellulose/ZnO Bionanocomposites
New bionanocomposite proton exchange membranes were prepared from sulfonated polybenzimidazole (s-PBI) and various amounts of sulfonated ZnO/cellulose nanohybrids (ZnO/cellulose-SO3H). The use of ZnO/cellulose-SO3H compensates for the decrease in ion exchange capacity of membranes observed when non-sulfonated nano-fillers are utilized. The strong –SO3H/–SO<su...
