[A scanning electron microscope observation of Dictyocaulus filaria.].
In this study, D. filaria causing parasitic bronchopneumonia in sheep was observed using a scanning electron microscope. This parasite belongs to the Trichostrongyloidea super family. The oral opening of D. filaria was observed to be small and circular in shape. Lips were not evident. Any difference between anterior ends of male and female parasites was not observed in present study. In the fem...

ANDERSON, P. J. S. and VERSTER, ANNA, 1971. Studies on Dictyocaulus filaria. I. Modifications of laboratory procedures. Onderstepoort]. vet. Res. 38 (3), 181-184 (1971). Techniques used in a study of the life-cycle of Dictyocaulus filaria (Rudolphi, 1809) are described. First stage larvae migrate from faecal pellets placed in water. Infective larvae are cultured in clean water at room temperatu...

Developmental stages of D ictyocaulus filaria (Rudolphi, 1809) were recovered from the right colic mesenteric lymph nodes of lambs 18 hours after infestation . The majority of the parasites remain in the lymph nodes unti...

The 4th stage is swollen in the anal region and acc...

Vascular permeability increasing action of the saline extract of Dictyocaulus filaria--a preliminary report.
The cutaneous hypersensitivity reaction in sheep infected with Dictyocaulus filaria was investigated. The saline extract of the worms increased the cutaneous capillary permeability in both the infected and uninfected control animals. Similar increase in the permeability was also observed in uninfected healthy rabbits. The results suggest that the vascular permeability increasing action of the w...
