Using lattice models to determine Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple

This article describes an alternative representation of whole numbers, one that can be constructed as a manipulative model. The material is particularly useful in providing a visual representation of the Greatest Common Divisor and the Least Common Multiple of numbers, concepts which have been shown in the literature to be calculated by students in rule-based manners for which students lack int...

Effects of an Optimization Method to Determine Optimal Complementary Learning Clusters on Iranian EFL Learners' Language Proficiency

Cooperative learning has widely been used as a teaching method in English class around the world, and has attracted worldwide attention for its remarkable achievement. This study was an attemptto investigate the effects of an optimization method named genetic algorithm to determine optimalcomplementary learning clusters on Iranian EFL learners' English proficiency. The subjects of thismixed meth...

Computing the Least Common

Methods for computing the least common subsumer (lcs) are usually restricted to rather inexpressive Description Logics (DLs) whereas existing knowledge bases are written in very expressive DLs. In order to allow the user to re-use concepts defined in such terminologies and still support the definition of new concepts by computing the lcs, we extend the notion of the lcs of concept descriptions ...

Interferometric Method to Determine the Birefringence for an Anisotropic Material

A simple interferometric technique was used for measuring the absolute birefringence of an anisotropic material. The sample has constant thickness. It was placed between crossed polarizers and illuminated with a parallel beam of monochromatic light. The resulting interferograms were analyzed to deduce the birefringence and its dispersion across the visible spectrum. A Cauchy formula was applied...

An atmospheric electrical method to determine the eddy diffusion coefficient

The ion–aerosol balance equations are solved to get the profiles of atmospheric electric parameters over the ground surface in an aerosol-rich environment under the conditions of surface radioactivity. Combining the earlier results for low aerosol concentrations and the present results for high aerosol concentrations, a relation is obtained between the average value of atmospheric electric spac...

An appropriate method to determine the interaction type of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and Bean yellow mosaic virus (BYMV)

The occurrence of viral co-infection is a common phenomenon in cultivated and native plant species and can alter the dynamics of virus infection. In this study, disease progress was examined in single and mixed infections of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and Bean yellow mosaic virus (BYMV) by measuring the rate of symptom development, disease severity and area under disease progress curve on infe...
