Abstract:

In this paper, we present an integrated version of the Ng model and Zhou and Fan model [W. L. Ng,A simple classifier for multiple criteria ABC analysis, European Journal of Operation Research, 177(2007) 344-353; P. Zhou & L. Fan, A note on multi-criteria ABC inventory classification usingweighted linear optimization, European Journal of Operation Research, 182 (2007) 1488-1491]. Themodel that Ng [1] offered, hereafter called the Ng-model, in spite of its advantages may lead to asituation in which the weights of some criteria in relation to an item would not play any role indetermining overall score that item. Also, the scale transformation that he applied for transforming themeasures of items under criteria into interval 0-1 is not suitable for the small-scale measures. On theother hand, for the R inventory item, the Zhou and Fan model [2], hereafter called the ZF-model,should be solved through a linear optimizer 2R times in which an inventory manager might has no anybackground in regard with optimizer. Furthermore, when number of items is large, the computingtime would increase. Therefore, in order to remove drawbacks of both the approaches, an integratedmodel is presented in which objective functions are the same ZF-method but its constraints is similarto Ng model. At last, results obtained from applying the proposed model in an illustrative example arecompared with Ng and ZF-models.

the algorithm for solving the inverse numerical range problem

Problem solving with multiple interdependent criteria ∗

We consider multiple objective programming (MOP) problems with additive interdependences, i.e. when the states of some chosen objective are attained through supportive or inhibitory feed-backs from several other objectives. We show how the concept of interdependency can be applied to an n-party single-issue negotiation problem in which the negotiators cooperatively face a common problem or in w...

a model and extended algorithm for solving an inventory control problem with transportation costs

in this paper, a supplier-retailer transportation system is investigated as a two-echelon environment. there is a single location in each echelon; the unique supplier at the first echelon has to replenish the retailer's warehouse at the second echelon. by the way, the shortage situation should be avoided. for this situation, a model is provided based on the traditional eoq model. the inven...

An Effective Genetic Algorithm for Solving the Multiple Traveling Salesman Problem

The multiple traveling salesman problem (MTSP) involves scheduling m > 1 salesmen to visit a set of n > m nodes so that each node is visited exactly once. The objective is to minimize the total distance traveled by all the salesmen. The MTSP is an example of combinatorial optimization problems, and has a multiplicity of applications, mostly in the areas of routing and scheduling. In this paper,...

An Integrated Architecture for Engineering Problem Solving

Problem solving is an essential function of human cognition. To build intelligent systems that are capable of assisting engineers and tutoring students, we need to develop an information processing model and identify the skills used in engineering problem solving. This thesis describes the Integrated Problem Solving Architecture (IPSA) that combines qualitative, quantitative and diagrammatic re...
