Amenability of groups and semigroups characterized by configuration
Authors
Abstract:
In 2005, A. Abdollahi and A. Rejali, studied the relations betweenparadoxical decomposition and configuration for semigroups. In thepresent paper, we introduce one other concept of amenability typeon semigroups and groups which includes amenability of semigroupsand inner-amenability of groups. We have extend the previous knownresults to semigroups and groups satisfying this concept.

full textAmenability of groups is characterized by Myhill's Theorem
We prove a converse to Myhill’s “Garden-of-Eden” theorem and obtain in this manner a characterization of amenability in terms of cellular automata: A group G is amenable if and only if every cellular automaton with carrier G that has gardens of Eden also has mutually erasable patterns. This answers a question by Schupp, and solves a conjecture by CeccheriniSilberstein, Mach̀ı and Scarabotti.
full textOrdered semigroups characterized by their intuitionistic fuzzy bi-ideals
Fuzzy bi-ideals play an important role in the study of ordered semigroupstructures. The purpose of this paper is to initiate and study theintiuitionistic fuzzy bi-ideals in ordered semigroups and investigate thebasic theorem of intuitionistic fuzzy bi-ideals. To provide thecharacterizations of regular ordered semigroups in terms of intuitionisticfuzzy bi-ideals and to discuss the relationships ...
full textSemigroup C*-algebras and Amenability of Semigroups
We construct reduced and full semigroup C*-algebras for left cancellative semigroups. Our new construction covers particular cases already considered by A. Nica and also Toeplitz algebras attached to rings of integers in number fields due to J. Cuntz. Moreover, we show how (left) amenability of semigroups can be expressed in terms of these semigroup C*-algebras in analogy to the group case.
full textcompactifications and representations of transformation semigroups
this thesis deals essentially (but not from all aspects) with the extension of the notion of semigroup compactification and the construction of a general theory of semitopological nonaffine (affine) transformation semigroup compactifications. it determines those compactification which are universal with respect to some algebric or topological properties. as an application of the theory, it is i...

Let (G,S) be a Coxeter group. We construct a continuation, to the open unit disc, of the unitary representations associated to the positive definite functions g 7→ rl(g). (Here 0 < r < 1, and l denotes the length function with respect to the generating set S.) The constructed representations are uniformly bounded and we prove that this implies the weak amenability of the group G. Résumé Soit (G...
