Amavids` Part in Supporting Determinism

Abstract:

The problem of Destiny and Predestination and, following it, determinism because of its complicated nature has always been misused in different ways. As is understood by Amavid texts including letters and speeches clearly, determinism has been a common idea in their age. The paper deals with the problem with regard to the part by Amavid rulers and considers some Amavid caliphates` speeches in isolation. The method is based on gathering various historical evidences of valid sources, analyzing them briefly and concluding new ideas. As is concluded by the paper, Amavids rulers have played a part in supporting determinism directly and indirectly.

Linguistic determinism and the part of speech.

IN RECENT years the anthropologists Whorf (12), Lee (9), and Hoijer (6) have put forward the view that language is a determinant of perception and thought. The nature of the determining influence exerted by the vocabulary of a language is quite clear (1), but it is less easy to see how the grammatical features of a language can affect cognition. Yet it is just the grammatical differences betwee...

From Determinism to Non-determinism in Recognizable Two-Dimensional Languages

Tiling systems that recognize two-dimensional languages are intrinsically non-deterministic models. We introduce the notion of deterministic tiling system that generalizes deterministic automata for strings. The corresponding family of languages matches all the requirements of a robust deterministic class. Furthermore we show that, differently from the one-dimensional case, there exist many cla...

Causal determinism in toddlers

Prior research has shown that children hold a belief in causal determinism the belief that all events are caused – by 4 years of age. In this study we investigate the developmental origins of this belief. We showed toddlers (24 months) a spontaneous or explained novel physical outcome (a toy that lit up either spontaneously or upon contact from an experimenter) and then showed them an additiona...

Determinism in Parallel Systems

In this paper, generalizations to systems M hich are not persistent, that i\. systernc where an event can, possibly infinitelq, be postponed, are dealt with. The techniques that are used are an application of the ones published by Roasson and Nivat 1 1981)). The main result of this paper can be looked upon as a criterion for determining a determinism in systems. and is fully compatible with H-g...

Defining Determinism

The article puts forward a branching-style framework for the analysis of determinism and indeterminism of scientific theories, starting from the core idea that an indeterministic system is one whose present allows for more than one alternative possible future. We describe how a definition of determinism stated in terms of branching models supplements and improves current treatments of determini...

On Determinism

The notion of deterministic execution of concurrent systems has appeared in many guises throughout Edward A. Lee’s œuvre, but few really grasp how powerful, important, subtle, and flexible the concept really is. Determinism can be thought of as an abstraction boundary that delineates where control is passed from a system designer to the implementation. This paper surveys some of the many forms ...
