Ag/Pt Core-Shell Nanoparticles on Graphene Nanocomposite for Effective Anodic Fuels Electro-oxidation
Authors
Abstract:
The nanocomposite consists of the Ag as a core and Pt as shell on the surface of graphene nanosheets (Ag/Pt-G) was synthesized with a simple method and used as a novel electrochemical platform for an efficient catalyst for oxidation of the ethanol, methanol and formic acid. The morphology and electrochemical properties of Ag/Pt-G nanocomposite were investigated by TEM, X-ray diffraction, and voltammetric methods. Based on experimental results, Ag/Pt-G nanocomposite shows high performance toward oxidation of formic acid, ethanol, and methanol, due to the synergistic effect of Pt, Ag, and graphene nanosheets. The presence of Ag in the structure of nanocomposite leads to enhancing the usage of Pt in the core-shell structure. The proposed nanocomposite with good stability and high catalytic activity can be applied as an effective catalyst.

full textNanocomposite for methanol oxidation: synthesis and characterization of cubic Pt nanoparticles on graphene sheets
We present our recent results on Pt nanoparticles on graphene sheets (Pt-NPs/G), a nanocomposite prepared with microwave assistance in ionic liquid 2-hydroxyethanaminiumformate. Preparation of Pt-NPs/G was achieved without the addition of extra reductant such as hydrazine or ethylene glycol. The Pt nanoparticles on graphene have a cubic-like shape (about 60 wt% Pt loading, Pt-NPs/G) and the par...

Environmental pollutants, such as the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), become widely distributed in the environment after emission from a range of sources, and they have potential biological effects, including toxicity and carcinogenity. In this work, we have demonstrated the analytical potential of a covalently linked L-cysteine-capped CdSeTe/ZnSe/ZnS core/shell/shell quantum dot (QD)-...

To synthesize monodisperse palladium nanoparticles dispersed on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) sheets, we have developed an easy and scalable solvothermal reduction method from an organic solution system. The RGO-supported palladium nanoparticles with a diameter of 3.8 nm are synthesized in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and in the presence of oleylamine and trioctylphosphine, which facilitates sim...
