Abstract:

The present study deals with analysis of the activity of catalysts prepared by addition of different metals to Copper and Cobalt based catalysts for CO oxidation and the variation in activity caused by changes in composition. A series of catalysts were prepared with Cu:Co molar ratio 1:4 and a third metal (M= Ce, Ni, Au, Mg) was added in three different quantities. Compositions were prepared by coprecipitation method, calcinated at 550°C for three hours. The results reported that the cerium based catalysts showed the highest activity T100% = 390°C in terms of CO oxidation whereas gold based catalysts showed the least activity T58.24% = 418°C. The best selected catalyst of each group was characterized by the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).

Pt-Au/MOx-CeO₂ (M = Mn, Fe, Ti) Catalysts for the Co-Oxidation of CO and H₂ at Room Temperature.

A series of nanostructured Pt-Au/MOx-CeO₂ (M = Mn, Fe, Ti) catalysts were prepared and their catalytic performance for the co-oxidation of carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H₂) were evaluated at room temperature. The results showed that MOx promoted the CO oxidation of Pt-Au/CeO₂, but only the TiO₂ could enhance co-oxidation of CO and H₂ over Pt-Au/CeO₂. Related characterizations were conducte...

Enhanced Electrocatalytic Activity of Pt-M (M= Co, Fe) Chitosan Supported Catalysts for Ethanol Electrooxidation in Fuel Cells

Here, metal nanoparticles were synthesized by chemical reduction of the corresponding metal salts in the presence of chitosan polymer. Binary and ternary metallic-chitosan Pt-Fe-CH, Pt-Co-CH and Pt-Fe-Co-CH nanocomposites were prepared. Transmission electron microscopy images and UV–Vis spectra of the nanocomposites confirmed the presence of the metal nanoparticles. The electrocatalytic activit...

Magnetic Properties and Structural Study of Ni-Co/Cu Multilayers Prepared by Electrodeposition Method

Ni-Co/Cu multilayers have been grown by electrodeposition method from a single electrolyte (based on Ni(SO4).6H2O, Co(SO4).7H2O, Cu(SO4) and H3BO3) using galvanostatic control on titanium sublayers. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns confirmed the multilayered structure with the nanometer thicknesses. Also, electron diffraction x-ray (EDX)  analysis confirmed the purity of deposited samples. ...

A Theoretical Investigation on CO Oxidation by Single‐Atom Catalysts M1/γ‐Al2O3 (M=Pd, Fe, Co, and Ni)

Single-atom catalysts have attracted much interest recently because of their excellent stability, high catalytic activity, and remarkable atom efficiency. Inspired by the recent experimental discovery of a highly efficient single-atom catalyst Pd1/γ-Al2O3, we conducted a comprehensive DFT study on geometries, stabilities and CO oxidation catalytic activities of M1/γ-Al2O3 (M=Pd, Fe, Co, and Ni)...

Fabrication of CeO2–MOx (M = Cu, Co, Ni) composite yolk–shell nanospheres with enhanced catalytic properties for CO oxidation

CeO2-MO x (M = Cu, Co, Ni) composite yolk-shell nanospheres with uniform size were fabricated by a general wet-chemical approach. It involved a non-equilibrium heat-treatment of Ce coordination polymer colloidal spheres (Ce-CPCSs) with a proper heating rate to produce CeO2 yolk-shell nanospheres, followed by a solvothermal treatment of as-synthesized CeO2 with M(CH3COO)2 in ethanol solution. Du...
