A Report on Adrenal Gland Estrogens and Manifestations of Femininity

Abstract:

It has been shown and confirmed that adrenal cortical tumours synthesize and secrete oestrogens more than normal adrenals and eventually produce feminization in some cases.  In addition to the above mentioned findings the lack of conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone has been shown to be the main biochemical disorder which causes the lack of hair growth in public area in some cases of testicular feminization.

Relation between Proepileptic Activity of Indomethacin and Adrenal Gland Hormones

The role of inflammation has been shown in the pathogenesis of epilepsy, while glucocorticoids and adrenaline have anti-inflammatory effects. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of adrenaline, prednisolone, and indomethacin on caffeine-induced epilepsy (epileptiform activity) in rats and to examine the mechanism of the pro-epileptic effect of indomethacin. The adrenalect...

Effect of ACTH on adrenal estrogens.

Tissue levels of rat adrenal estrogens during the estrous cycle were determined by radioimmunoassay, and effect of ACTH on the adrenal estrogen levels was examined. The levels of estrone and estradiol in proestrus were 2.75 +/- 0.61 pg/mg tissue and 1.0 +/- 0.19 pg/mg tissue (mean +/- SE), respectively. The higher level of estrone but not of estradiol was inclined to appear in proestrus rather ...

Here we describe a classic, but relatively uncommon, presentation in the United States of adrenal insufficiency ...
