Abstract:

In this paper, a reliability approach on reconfiguration decisions in a supply chain network is studied based on coupling the simulation concepts and artificial neural network. In other words, due to the limited budget for warehouse relocation in a supply chain, the failure probability is assessed for determining the robust decision for future supply chain configuration. Traditional solving approaches can find the failure probability in problems with small scenarios and limited dimensions, while huge number of scenarios needs to be optimized by an efficient approach in terms of accuracy in obtained solution and improving the computational time simultaneously. Hence, the tuned artificial neural network (ANN) is applied to forecast the failure probability while network's parameters and available budget are stochastic. The results show that simulation of problem using ANN can work appropriately in selecting the configuration with considerable less time consumption and forecasting error. Monte Carlo Simulation to Compare Markovian and Neural Network Models for Reliability Assessment in Multiple AGV Manufacturing System

We compare two approaches for a Markovian model in flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs) using Monte Carlo simulation. The model which is a development of Fazlollahtabar and Saidi-Mehrabad (2013), considers two features of automated flexible manufacturing systems equipped with automated guided vehicle (AGV) namely, the reliability of machines and the reliability of AGVs in a multiple AGV jobsho...

Risk measurement in the global supply chain using monte-carlo simulation

Nowadays, logistics and supply chain management (SCM) is critical to compete in the current turbulent markets. In addition, in the global context, there are many uncertainties which affect on the market. One of the most important risks is supplier disruption. The first step to cope with these uncertainties is quantifying them. In this regard many researches have focused on the problem but measu...

A multi-objective evolutionary approach for integrated production-distribution planning problem in a supply chain network

Integrated production-distribution planning (PDP) is one of the most important approaches in supply chain networks. We consider a supply chain network (SCN) to consist of multi suppliers, plants, distribution centers (DCs), and retailers. A bi-objective mixed integer linear programming model for integrating production-distribution designed here aim to simultaneously minimize total net costs in ...

An Integrated Hydrocarbon Biofuel and Petroleum Supply Chain: Designing and Planning a Dynamic Supply Chain Network

One of the main challenges of bioenergy sector development is the cost of biomass supply chain resulted from inefficient bioenergy production from low energy content biomass feedstocks, high logistics costs of biomass production, handling and transportation. Another main aspect to be considered is that the configuration of a biofuel supply chain can be dynamic which evolve over time. Growing de...

Optimizing of an Integrated Production-Distribution System with Probabilistic Parameters in a Multi-Level Supply Chain Network Considering the Backorder

One of the main arguments in the supply chain is integrated production-distribution planning. Integrated production and distribution of products in a supply chain plays an important role in reducing the costs of the chain. In this paper, a mathematical model for the integrated production-distribution problem in a three-level supply chain, including manufacturing plants, distribution centers and...
