A Preventive Maintenance Decision Policy Based on Economic-Technical and Applicibility Considerations

Abstract:

The present study is intended to develop a Preventive Maintenance (PM) policy for industrial applications, while considering two different objectives: the first objective is to optimize the total maintenance costs, i.e., the Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Emergency Maintenance (EM) Costs Per Unit Time. (CPUT). The second objective is to design the policy in such a way that the simplicity of its application in a production industry environment is improved.&#10A simulation model is constructed and, using a Monte Carlo simulation, the model is run for a sufficient number of cycles in order to determine the optimum value of a decision parameter (TX). The TX value provides the PM planning section with the possibility of economically postponing the PM action to its next scheduled date. Numerical examples are given to show the validity of the model and comparisons are made with existing PM policies in industry and in the literature to evaluate the cost reduction values that can be obtained through the adoption of the policy, while the implementation simplicity is also maintained&#10

Maintenance management decision model for preventive maintenance strategy on production equipment

In industries, Preventive Maintenance (PM) is not a new practice to minimise the sudden breakdown of production machine. PM will be performed at predetermine intervals to provide a balance between failure cost and component utilisation (aging). However, most of PM interval is based on experience or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) recommendations. Consequently, the benefits from PM are not...

A Condition-based Preventive Maintenance Policy for Markov Deteriorating Systems

Abstract: A condition based preventive maintenance (CBPM) policy is proposed for a continuously operating device whose condition deteriorates with time in service. The model incorporates both deterioration and random failures. Deterioration is modeled as discrete states process. The system undergoes random inspections to know the condition, mean time between inspections are exponentially distri...

Repairable Product Warranty and Preventive Maintenance Policy

This paper considers four options of warranty and preventive maintenance policy. The product is repairable and sold with a non-renewing free warranty policy. For products sold with warranty, preventive maintenance (PM) actions by manufacturers and/or buyers have an impact on the total costs for both parties. In this study, we deal with a model to study the effect of PM that carried out by the m...

A New Mathematical Model for a Multi-product Supply Chain Network with a Preventive Maintenance Policy

The supply chain network design (SCND) implicates decision-making at a strategic level and makes it possible to create an effective and helpful context for managing. The aim of the network is to minimize the total cost so that customer's demands should be met. Preventive maintenance is pre-determined work performed to a schedule with the aim of preventing the wear and tear or sudden failure of ...
