A New S-test for Haplotype Analysis: Concordance and Discordance

Abstract:

A new test of inheritance, S, is proposed, which uses information from affected as well as unaffected siblings in the fam ily. The siblings are analyzed in terms of similarities of haplotypes. The distribution of the proposed Stest is derived under the null hypothesis of random inheritance. Mean and variance are obtained for the distribution. The test is then applied to data sets published in the literature. The results suggest some sort of linkage between haplotypes and disease genes.

Test S of Haplotype Concordance and Discordance

The test presented here is based upon the proband and his/her affected as well as unaffected siblings. Here, the siblings are analyzed in terms of similarities of haplotypes. The proposed ‘S’ test is used in testing hypothesis that a particular disease has random pattern of inheritance against the alternative hypothesis that it has non-random pattern of inheritance. Probability distribution, me...

An axiomatic analysis of concordance-discordance relations

Outranking methods propose an original way to build a preference relation between alternatives evaluated on several attributes that has a definite ordinal flavor. Indeed, most of them appeal the concordance / non-discordance principle that leads to declaring that an alternative is “superior” to another, if the coalition of attributes supporting this proposition is “sufficiently important” (conc...

Concordance and discordance of sequence survey methods for molecular epidemiology

The post-genomic era is characterized by the direct acquisition and analysis of genomic data with many applications, including the enhancement of the understanding of microbial epidemiology and pathology. However, there are a number of molecular approaches to survey pathogen diversity, and the impact of these different approaches on parameter estimation and inference are not entirely clear. We ...

a new approach to credibility premium for zero-inflated poisson models for panel data

Concordance and discordance of congenital heart disease in 20 families.

It is generally accepted that the frequency of congenital heart disease is higher in relatives of patients than in the general population. Estimates both of population frequencies, and of the extent to which these frequencies are exceeded in relatives of those affected, vary considerably. This is not surprising as some authors have reported series diagnosed at birth, while others have reported ...

Preliminary results on dynamic analysis of a new test rig for wheel-rail contact studies

A new reduced–scale test rig is developed owing to significantly contribute to the applicability of the laboratory tests on rolling contact fatigue (RCF) in wheel-rail material. This paper introduces the dynamic analysis of the test rig, in order to assess the vibration behaviour of the system with respect to contact phenomenon. Finite element modelling (FEM) is used to simulate the mecha...
