Abstract:

Due to improvements in computational resources, interest has recently increased in using implicit scheme for solving flow equations on 3D unstructured grids. However, most of the implicit schemes produce greater numerical diffusion error than their corresponding explicit schemes. This stems from the fact that in linearizing implicit fluxes, it is conventional to replace the Jacobian matrix in the dissipation term by its constant spectral radius. The objective of the present &#10study is to develop a modified implicit solver based on Roe scheme so that its numerical dissipation is as much as the explicit one. In the proposed scheme, the Krylov subspace method with a LU decomposition preconditioner (GMRES+LU-SGS) is used to solve the linear systems. The efficiency of this method is shown by presenting some examples at the end.&#10

An Implicit LU-SGS Scheme for the Spectral Volume Method on Unstructured Tetrahedral Grids

An efficient implicit lower-upper symmetric Gauss-Seidel (LU-SGS) solution approach has been applied to a high order spectral volume (SV) method for unstructured tetrahedral grids. The LU-SGS solver is preconditioned by the block element matrix, and the system of equations is then solved with a LU decomposition. The compact feature of SV reconstruction facilitates the efficient solution algorit...

Solving the Euler Equations for Unstructured Grids on Graphical Processor Units

The long computation times required for fluid dynamics simulations (CFD) has lead the industry to look for some alternatives to boost high performance computing (HPC). This paper is focused on the acceleration of fluid dynamics simulations for industrial complex configurations using modern graphics cards (GPUs) that exhibits a substantial parallel architecture. First, some general facts about g...

Entropy Stable Scheme on Two-Dimensional Unstructured Grids for Euler Equations

We propose an entropy stable high-resolution finite volume scheme to approximate systems of two-dimensional symmetrizable conservation laws on unstructured grids. In particular we consider Euler equations governing compressible flows. The scheme is constructed using a combination of entropy conservative fluxes and entropy-stable numerical dissipation operators. High resolution is achieved based...

Numerical Simulations of the Steady Euler Equations on Unstructured Grids

This thesis is concerned with effective and robust numerical schemes for solving steady Euler equations. For solving the nonlinear system resulting from the discretization of the steady Euler equations, we employ a standard Newton method as the outer iterative scheme and a linear multigrid method as the inner iterative scheme with the block lower-upper symmetric Gauss-Seidel iteration as its sm...
