Abstract:

This paper presents a new algorithm for the deinterleaving of radar signals, based on the direction of arrival (DOA), carrier frequency (RF), and time of arrival (TOA). The algorithm is applied to classic (constant), jitter, staggered, and dwell switch pulse repetition interval (PRI) signals. This algorithm consists of two stages. In the first stage, a Kohonen neural network clusters the received pulses on the basis of frequency and DOA. In this stage radars having the same frequency and DOA, are identified as one class. In the second stage, the number of existing emitters and their PRIs is determined by using TOA information. The algorithm for the deinterleaving uses the information obtained from the previous analysis to reduce the required computation time. The simulation results show that the algorithm is successful in high pulse density environments and for the complex signal types.

Deinterleaving Radar Pulse Trains Using Neural Networks

All known time of arrival (TOA) deinterleaving algorithms have great diiculty separating interleaved radar pulse trains when two or more of the trains are significantly jittered. Such scenarios tend to lead to overwhelming ambiguity and fragmentation diiculties when using traditional techniques. In this report we propose a modiied sequence search technique combined with a novel recursive neural...

An FPGA Implementation of Incremental Clustering for Radar Pulse Deinterleaving

Background A military aircraft in a hostile environment may need to use radar jamming in order to avoid being detected or engaged by the enemy. Effective jamming can require knowledge of the number and type of enemy radars; however, the radar receiver on the aircraft will observe a single stream of pulses from all radar emitters combined. It is advantageous to separate this collection of pulses...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
