A LOW TEMPERATURE SPECIFIC HEAT INVESTIGATION OF Cd Mn Se AND Cd Mn S

Authors: not saved
Abstract:

The specific heat of Cd Mn Se (x = 0.01) and Cd , Mn S (x = 0.026) in the temperature range of 0.3 - 40K was measured. The measurements were carried out in different applied magnetic fields (H = 0,10,20, 28KG). The results were analyzed with a model which includes long range interactions. Calculations based on on extended version of nearest neighbor pair approximation (including triplets) yielded a reasonable agreement with the experimental results. This approximation is seen to provide a good simultaneous description of the specific heat, susceptibility and magnetization results.

Mn,Cd-metallothionein-2: a room temperature magnetic protein.

Naturally occurring metallothionein (MT) is a metal binding protein, which binds to seven Zn2+ through 20 conserved cysteines and forms two metal binding clusters with a Zinc-Blende structure. We demonstrate that the MT, when substituting the Zn2+ ions by Mn2+ and Cd2+, exhibits magnetic hysteresis loop observable by SQUID from 10 to 330 K. The magnetic moment may have originated from the bridg...

EPR studies of Cd substituted Mn Zn nanoferrites

Nanoparticles of Mn0.5Zn0.5-xCdxFe2O4 with x varying from x = 0.0 to 0.3 were prepared by wet chemical co-precipitation method. The structural and magnetic properties were studied by using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) technique. ...

Jump Frequency of Cd Tracer Atoms in β-Mn

The jump frequency of Cd tracer atoms in pure and Al-doped β-Mn was determined from measurements of quadrupole relaxation using the method of perturbed angular correlation of gamma rays. The jump frequency of Cd in β-Mn containing about 4.5 at.% Al had an activation enthalpy of 0.67(3) eV. In pure β-Mn at 950 K, the jump frequency was a factor about 8 larger than the value of 9.2 MHz in the all...
