Abstract:

This article derives the distribution of random matrix X associated with the transformation Y = X*X, such that Y has a Riesz distribution for real normed division algebras. Two versions of this distributions are proposed and some of their properties are studied.

Asymptotics for Kotz Type III Elliptical Distributions

Abstract: Let X be a Kotz Type III elliptical random vector in IR, k ≥ 2, and let tn, n ≥ 1 be positive constants such that limn→∞ tn = ∞. In this article we obtain an asymptotic expansion of the tail probability P {X > tna},a ∈ IR. As an application we derive an approximation for the conditional excess distribution. Furthermore, we discuss the asymptotic dependence of Kotz Type III triangular ...

modeling loss data by phase-type distribution

Bonbrest v. Kotz [Brief] (1946)

This influential opinion was copied throughout the United States allowing civil actions and wrongful death [5] claims on behalf of children who suffered injuries while a viable [6] fetus [7]. The case essentially overruled the opinion by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes [8], Jr. in Dietrich v. Inhabitants of Northampton (1884). However, the ability to sue was usually limited in two ways: the fetus...

A New Approach to Continuous Riesz Bases

This paper deals with continuous frames and continuous Riesz bases. We introduce continuous Riesz bases and give some equivalent conditions for a continuous frame to be a continuous Riesz basis. It is certainly possible for a continuous frame to have only one dual. Such a continuous frame is called a Riesz-type frame [13]. We show that a continuous frame is Riesz-type if and only if it is a con...

Riesz Type Theorem in Locally Convex Spaces

The present paper is concerned with some representatons of linear mappings of continuous functions into locally convex vector spaces, namely Theorem. If X is a complete Hausdorff locally convex vector space, then a general form of weakly compact mapping T : C[a, b] → X is of the form Tg = ∫ b a g(t)dx(t), where the function x(·) : [a, b] → X has a weakly compact semivariation on [a, b]. This th...

Riesz transforms on groups of Heisenberg type

The aim of this article is to prove the following theorem. Theorem: Let p be in (1,∞), Hn,m a group of Heisenberg type, R the vector of the Riesz transforms on Hn,m. There exists a constant Cp independent of n and m such that for every f ∈ L (Hn,m) C p e ‖f‖Lp(Hn,m) ≤ ‖|Rf |‖Lp(Hn,m) ≤ Cpe‖f‖Lp(Hn,m). It has been proved by F. Lust-Piquard that the operator norm of R does not depend on n (see [L...
