A High Capacity Email Steganography Scheme using Dictionary

Authors

Abstract:

The main objective of steganography is to conceal a secret message within a cover-media in such a way that only the original receiver can discern the presence of the hidden message. The cover-media can be a text, email, audio, image, and video, which can be transmitted through a public channel, such as the Internet. By extending the use of email among Internet users, the provision of email steganography methods has been highly considered. In other words, email-based steganography becomes one of the most popular techniques for text steganography. An email steganography scheme hides the secret message into either the email body or email addresses. However, current approaches suffer from a limited capacity, which leads to a tradeoff between the security and the capacity of the steganography scheme. In this paper, we propose an email steganography scheme using a dictionary-based compression. The proposed scheme provides an unlimited steganography capacity along with a promising security level. In the first step of the proposed scheme, the secret message is compressed and encoded to a bitstream using a dictionary. After that, the bitstream is divided into several parts based on the number of characters in the cover text. Each part of the secret message is then converted to a decimal value, and an email address is generated using both the decimal value and the secret keys. Finally, the cover-text, which is the email body in our scheme, is sent to all generated email addresses as well as the original receiver. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme not only provides an unlimited steganography capacity but also generates fewer email addresses comparing to the state of the art in the steganography literature.

High capacity steganography tool for Arabic text using 'Kashida'

Steganography is the ability to hide secret information in a cover-media such as sound, pictures and text. A new approach is proposed to hide a secret into Arabic text cover media using "Kashida", an Arabic extension character. The proposed approach is an attempt to maximize the use of "Kashida" to hide more information in Arabic text cover-media. To approach this, some algorithms have been des...

High Capacity Image Steganography Using Block Randomization

The paper states the approach of embedding text secret message into an JPEG image file by dividing the entire image into blocks of 4 pixels and finding the key position using the values of RGB from the first block and then arranging the entire blocks into array and selecting particular blocks randomly for embedding the secret message. The idea is to finding a random pattern that is not easy to ...

Capacity Adaptive Synchronized Acoustic Steganography Scheme

A new steganography scheme with capacity variability and synchronization is proposed for secure transmission of acoustic data . In this scheme, the sender records acoustic data, converts it into PCM data, embeds synchronous fix-sized divided data , interleaves and transmits the secret data to generate stego data, and the receiver extracts the secret data all in real-time. Synchronization ensure...

A high-speed large-capacity dictionary system

This paper describes a method of adapting dictionaries for use by a computer in such a way that comprehensiveness of vocabulary coverage can be maximized while look-up time is minimized. Although the programming of the system has not yet been completed, it is estimated at the time of writing that it will allow for a dictionary of 20,000 entries or more, with a total look-up time of about 8 mill...

High-Capacity Steganography Using MRF-Synthesized Cover Images

Steganography [6][13] refers to embedding information or secret message into media. This paper presents a simple and secure high-capacity steganographic algorithm for information hiding [15]. We synthesize a cover-image texture with four gray levels 32, 96, 160, and 224 of user-selected size based on a Markov Random Field (MRF) model [3]. On the other hand, each byte of the secret information (...

High Capacity and Security Steganography Using Discrete Wavelet Transform

The secure data transmission over internet is achieved using Steganography. In this paper High Capacity and Security Steganography using Discrete wavelet transform (HCSSD) is proposed. The wavelet coefficients of both the cover and payload are fused into single image using embedding strength parameters alpha and beta. The cover and payload are preprocessed to reduce the pixel range to ensure th...
