A case report of a bifid ureter and renal pelvis
Authors
Abstract:
Background: Double ureter is one of the anomaly of urethra that appears complete or incomplete. Incomplete duplication of ureter is known as bifid ureter, this kind of anomaly may be formed due to some error or disturbance in development of the ureteric bud which arises from the mesonephric duct around the 5th week. The ureteric bud grows and penetrates in to the metanephric tissue at about32cond day. However, sometimes the ureteric bud may divide before penetrating the metanephric tissue thus, giving rise to a bifid ureter having a single opening in to the bladder. According to recent studies (in the year 2000) on an average 3% excretory urograms show ureteral duplication, and the reference book of Grant`s range it around 0.5%. Case report: The present report is a rare case of a male cadaver aged about 65 years which has been dissected for medical students in department of anatomy. In dissection of abdominal cavity we have found that both kidneys including the liver, spleen, renal veins and inferior vena cava are unexpectedly has become enlarged, also we have recognized that the left ureter has been doubled and it ran to the rime of the true pelvis, then it joined together and connected to the bladder. The right ureter however, was completely normal, but the pelvis has been doubled instead. Conclusion: The majority of the investigations have reported this anomaly in association with other disease conditions but the present case is the unilateral incomplete bifid ureter & pelvis were associated with no other abnormality. The possible embryological reasons for the formation of bifid ureter are discussed.

Sarcomatoid Carcinoma of Renal Pelvis Involving Ureter and Renal Parenchyma with Heterologous Osteosarcomatous Differentiation: A Case Report and Review of Literature
Sarcomatoid carcinoma is a high‑grade rare malignant tumor with both epithelial and mesenchymal components. Sarcomatoid carcinoma in the upper urinary tract is very rare. We reported here a case of sarcomatoid carcinoma of renal pelvis with osteosarcomatous differentiation, with involvement of the ureter and renal parenchyma in a 68-year-old female. Histologically, predominant pleomorphic spind...

full textA retroaortic left renal vein associated with a partially bifid left ureter - case report
During routine dissection of the retroperitoneal region in our Department, we observed rare variation as a retro-aortic left renal vein associated with a partially bifid left ureter in a 56 year old female. The left renal vein, after receiving its tributaries, the left ovarian and the left suprarenal veins, acquired an oblique course to the level of the intervertebral disc between L3-L4, and th...
full textIncomplete duplicated (bifid) left ureter – A case report
The ureter is subjected to natural variation such as duplication. The partial duplication forming bifidity is one of its rare congenital anomalies. We report here a case of unilateral left bifid ureter encountered during cadaveric dissection. The bifidity in the present case was at its greater extent and in the form of Y shaped with superior and inferior segments. Proximally, both the segments ...

OBJECTIVE To assess the occurrence of upper urinary tract urothelial tumors (UUTT) in Brazil. MATERIALS AND METHODS We performed a clinical and histopathologic study of 33 patients who were diagnosed with a malignant neoplasm in the renal pelvis or ureter in the period of 1994 to 2004, in a single institution. RESULTS Among the patients with upper urinary tract carcinoma, 70% were males and...
