Abstract:

Background and objectives: Endometrial tissue growth and its activity outside the uterus cause endometriosis. It has been suggested that various epigenetic deviations play a major role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Steroidogenic factor 1 (SF-1; NR5A1) is an essential transcription factor for estrogen biosynthesis in endometrial cells. The expression of SF-1 in endometriosis and lack of expression in normal endometrium is primarily determined by its promoter methylation. Here, we aimed to compare the methylation status of the SF-1 gene promoter region in women with endometriosis in comparison to healthy subjects. Methods: In the present case–control study, DNA was extracted from 25 endometrial tissue samples from women with endometriosis and 5 normal post-hysterectomy endometrium tissues which were collected from Tabriz hospitals including Vali-e-Asr, Taleghani, 29 Bahman and Shams in 2016. The obtained DNA samples were subjected to Bisulfite-treatment. Finally, the status of SF-1gene promoter methylation was evaluated by methylation specific PCR method. Statistical analyses including descriptive and inferential statistics were conducted using tables, bar charts by statistical software SPSS version 20 and independence test. Results: The methylation status of SF-1 gene promoter was decreased significantly in endometriosis samples (P<0.05). Conclusion: SF-1 gene promoter hypomethylation could increase the relative expression of SF-1 gene in endometriosis which may lead to the development or progression of the disease.

The Growth Arrest-Specific Transcript 5 (GAS5) and Nuclear Receptor Subfamily 3 Group C Member 1 (NR3C1): Novel Markers Involved in Multiple Sclerosis

Recent studies have revealed that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are connected with pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, glucocorticoids have fundamental regulatory roles on the immune system, and act as potent therapeutic compounds for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The long noncoding RNA growth arrest-specific 5 (GAS5) which accumulates inside the cells in response...

بررسی پلی‌مورفیسم‌های A/C592- و A /G1082- ناحیه پروموتر ژن اینترلوکین 10 در افراد مبتلا به دیابت نوع دو در شمال غرب ایران

Background and Objective: Today diabetes is one of the most prevalent noncontagious diseases around the world. There is strong evidence showing inflammatory reactions play a crucial role in initiating this disease. Interleukin 10 is one of the most significant anti-inflammatory cytokines. Thus the present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between Interleukin 10 gene polymorphi...

عدم ارتباط میان پلی‌مورفیسم rs9340799 ژن Estrogen receptor alpha (ESR1) و استعداد ابتلا به اندومتریوز در زنان ایرانی

Background: The major issue to address in endometriosis etiology is to identify the genetic changes in the disease and their occurrence in different populations. Uncovering these genetic changes may be important in developing potential biomarkers for early diagnosis and prognosis of endometriosis. Among all endometriosis susceptibility genes studied before, convincing association has been found...
