Abstract:

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE AR-SA Buccal surface of Extracted permanent teeth was divided into two parts and etched by 30, 37, 50 and 60% concentrations of phosphoric acid gel and solution. Sealant replica was obtained from the etched surfaces of 50% gel and solution and the samples were examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Various views were found on replica. Gels are more effective than solutions and the concentration of 37-40% was found the most efficient one for acid-etching. /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal" mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0 mso-tstyle-colband-size:0 mso-style-noshow:yes mso-style-priority:99 mso-style-qformat:yes mso-style-parent:"" mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt mso-para-margin-top:0cm mso-para-margin-right:0cm mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt mso-para-margin-left:0cm line-height:115% mso-pagination:widow-orphan font-size:11.0pt font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif" mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin mso-bidi-font-family:Arial mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi}

Tongue structure in the long-eared hedgehog (Hemiechinus auritus): A scanning electron microscopic study

The aim of this study was to investigate the dorsal surface of the long-eared hedgehog tongue using scanning electron microscopy. The tongue of the long-eared hedgehog is rectangular-shaped with an elongated body and a widened root and a marked deep median groove can be seen on its dorsal surface. A characteristic feature of the lingual root is presence of two huge laterally situated folds. The...

A Scanning Electron Microscopic Study of Hypercementosis

The purpose of this study was to evaluate morphological characteristics of teeth with hypercementosis that are relevant to endodontic practice. Twenty-eight extracted teeth with hypercementosis had their root apexes analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The teeth were divided according to tooth groups and type of hypercementosis. The following aspects were examined under SEM: the cont...

Light and scanning electron microscopic study of the lingual structure in the budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus)

BACKGROUND: The tongue, which plays a very important role in food intake by vertebrates, exhibits significant morphological variations that appear to represent adaptation to the current environmental conditions of each respective habitat. OBJECTIVES: The aim of the present investigation was to investigate lingual structure in adult budgerigar. METHODS: Tongues of 12 adult budgerigars were used ...

Torps and porps: a transmission and scanning electron microscopic study.

TEM and SEM were used to evaluate the fate of eleven Plasti-pore prostheses left in the human middle ear for periods varying from seven to 34 months. It was evident that Plasti-pore is a relatively inert material based on its clinical performance, absence of gross fibrous tissue reaction from the middle ear, and the unchanged physical characteristics of the prosthesis. Micro-disintegration of t...

Morphogenesis of human bronchial diverticulum. A scanning electron microscopic study.

Diverticulosis of the bronchial wall was found in patients not only with, but also without, chronic obstructive lung disease; it appeared to start as submicroscopic depressions and dilatations of the ducts of the bronchial gland on the mucosal surface. Multiple depressions and dilatations fused to form a diverticulum which herniated between and through the smooth-muscle cellular bundles. Ruptur...

A scanning electron microscopic study of SV40 infected cells.

The surface of the SV40-infected African green monkey kidney (AGMK) cells was studied morphologically by scanning electron microscopy. In 24 hr post infection (p.i.), the cell surface was covered with slightly elongated microvilli. The microvilli increased in number. In 96 hr.p.i. most of the cells showed SV40-specific cytopathic effects (CPE). Nuclear swellings and the elongation of microvilli...
