Abstract:

In this paper, spin-dependent electrical transport properties are investigated in a single-crystal magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) which consists of two ferromagnetic Fe electrodes separated by an MgO insulating barrier. These properties contain electric current, spin polarization and tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). For this purpose, spin-dependent Hamiltonian is described for Δ1 and Δ5 bands in the transport direction. The transmission is calculated by Green's function formalism based on a single-band tight-binding approximation. The transport properties are investigated as a function of the barrier thickness in the limit of coherent tunneling. We have demonstrated that dependence of the TMR on the applied voltage and barrier thickness. Our numerical results may be useful for designing of spintronic devices. The numerical results may be useful in designing of spintronic devices.

Simulation of tunneling magneto-resistance in Fe/MgO/Fe junction

The conductivity asymmetry of junctions with insulating MgO barriers embedded between ferromagnetic Fe electrodes has been investigated by the first principles calculation program of Atomistix ToolKit 2008. The conductivity in up-spin electron is larger than that in down-spin electron for the ideal structure. It leads to the large TMR ratio. The defect of O or Fe atoms hardly varies the conduct...

Enhanced Interlayer Exchange Coupling in Co/Fe/MgO/Fe(001)

We investigate the bilinear and biquadratic interlayer exchange coupling in Co/Fe/MgO/Fe(001). Samples are grown through molecular beam epitaxy and the interlayer exchange coupling is measured through magneto-optic Kerr effect along wedge samples. By varying the location of Fe impurities between the interface and middle of the MgO spacer, we find that the couplings are enhanced and are dependen...

Thermal spin transfer in Fe-MgO-Fe tunnel junctions.

We compute thermal spin transfer (TST) torques in Fe-MgO-Fe tunnel junctions using a first principles wave-function-matching method. At room temperature, the TST in a junction with 3 MgO monolayers amounts to 10(-7) J/m(2)/K, which is estimated to cause magnetization reversal for temperature differences over the barrier of the order of 10 K. The large TST can be explained by multiple scattering...

خواص ساختاری و مغناطیسی چندلایه‌ای‌های نامتجانس /Fe(20Å)(XÅ)/Ag(Fe(20Å

We have deposited Fe/Ag/Fe multilayer by physical vapor deposition (PVD)method in different Ag thickness as spacer working in a vacuum of 2×10-6mbar. The structural properties , magnetic response of the samples at low temperatures and room temperature was investigated by XRD, physical properties measurement system (PPMS) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) respectively. Hysteresis loops sho...
